The Biden Administration swaps “cages” for trailers, where migrant detainees starve, suffocate, and expire.

When the swamp’s officials advocate a specific policy, it is wise to remember that the more illogical their statement is, the more political their statement is. Often, the official grasps that his statement on behalf of a desired policy is not supported by the facts; consequently, he attempts to conceal its failings beneath a mask of emotion, not infrequently aided by the media’s connivance. The official’s hope is that listeners’ virtuous feelings—such as altruism, compassion, and righteous indignation—will obscure their ability to comprehend intellectually the argument’s fallacies and the policy’s damage.

It would be tempting to call the official a liar and, indeed, many are. Still, many truly believe that while their argument is specious, magically, any impact of the desired policy will prove beneficial. Yet, when officials’ illogical, emotional arguments are accepted despite a citizenry’s better judgment, the fallout from those policies are not only impractical and injurious, they can prove lethal—and often for those who had no say in the fallacious argument and the implementation of its policies.

There is no more dire and vivid example of such illogical, political, emotional statements, disingenuous arguments, and their deadly consequences than the Biden Administration’s immigration policy.

As Melanie Arter of CNSNews.com reports, the recent discovery in San Antonio of 53 migrants who died in “what is considered to be the deadliest human smuggling incident in U.S. history” has raised the Biden Administration’s “record” of migrant deaths on its watch to over 700 men, women, and children.

Citing an interview with Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business, the article notes former ICE Director Tom Homan decried the human cost of Biden’s policies, and warned of more tragedies to come. “We’re going to see more deaths,” Homan said.

Homan has seen such tragedies with his own eyes: “I was the lead investigator on a tractor trailer incident back in 2003. We had 19 dead, and it changed me forever, standing in the back of a tractor trailer with 19 dead bodies at your feet, including a 5-year-old little boy. That changed me forever.”

Perhaps this is why Homan’s statements and policies are neither illogical nor emotional but factual:

You look at immigration court data, nearly nine out of 10 Central Americans who claim asylum at the border never get relief from the U.S. courts, because they either don’t show up or they don’t qualify . . . What happens to that nine out of 10? According to the Homeland Security Lifecycle report . . . if you’re UAC, an unaccompanied child, you leave three percent of the time . . . families leave six percent of the time, single adults leave 20 percent of the time . . .

Understanding the scope of the crisis, the Trump Administration undertook a rational immigration policy to secure America’s southern border. The result? Illegal immigration decreased by 83 percent to a 40-year low.

Nevertheless, while the facts speak for themselves, the Biden Administration reversed course on his predecessor’s policies that helped secure America’s borders. And Biden’s reversal has accelerated criminal organizations’ exploitation of migrants.

As Homan observes, the cartels exploit the Biden Administration’s disastrous immigration policies “to bring the most vulnerable people to our border. These policies convince the most vulnerable people in the world to put themselves in the arms of the criminal cartels who don’t care about them and so more deaths are going to occur.”

Yet, while his arguments are dispassionately factual, Homan is clearly passionate about enforcing immigration law and protecting not only Americans but also migrants. Thus, in defending the Trump-era border security policies he helped implement, Homan asked its detractors if they knew or even cared about how much human suffering was prevented? “How many women [weren’t] getting sexually assaulted? How many children [weren’t] dying? How many migrants [weren’t] dying? How many U.S. citizens [weren’t] dying from drug overdoses?”

Finally, Homan cannot help but demand, with “a record amount of migrant deaths under Joe Biden,” how its supporters can call this administration’s immigration and border security policies humane?

Bluntly, they cannot. So, aping their accomplices in the media, they ignore it; and wipe the summer dust off their “We Believe” lawn signs that proclaim “No Person Is Illegal,” oblivious to their role in the continuing tragedy of those they profess to aid.

All they’ve aided is trading migrant’s “cages” for trailers where they starve, suffocate, and expire.

Evidently, the open-borders-and-amnesty crowd considers this a small price to pay to preserve their self-delusion of virtue. As a result, we don’t see the tragedy wrought by their illogical, emotional arguments and impractical and lethal policies decried by solipsistic political hacks, nor is it covered as much in the media as the “inhumane” Trump policies that actually protected both Americans and migrants.

In the end, the open-borders-and-amnesty crowd speaks only for itself, and its sense of self. Tom Homan speaks for the vulnerable; for the exploited; for the migrant— and for the Americans who truly care about them.
