‘Dhimmicrat’ Rep. Marcy Kaptur Wins Redrawn Ohio 9th C.D. Primary Beating Fellow Progressive, Rep. Dennis Kucinichby Jerry Gordon
….THE MOSLEMS HAVE KAPTURED HER IMAGINATION IT SEEMS…..IN HER WORDS…..

“One could say that Osama bin Laden and these non-nation-state fighters with religious purpose are very similar to those kind of atypical revolutionaries that helped to cast off the British crown”

The narrow victory of former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney  over challenger, former US Senator Rick Santorum in the early hours of March 7th in the GOP primary may have overshadowed the victory of Rep. Marcy Kaptur over veteran  progressive Rep. Dennis Kucinich in the redrawn Ohio 9th Congressional District, Democratic primary.  The National Journal reported on her victory over Kunich in a brief note,”Kaptur Defeats Kucinich in Ohio’s 9th District Primary”:
The Cleveland Plain Dealer called the race for Kaptur near midnight. With 84 percent of precincts reporting, Kaptur led Kucinich 60 percent to 36 percent.
Kaptur and Kucinich were drawn into the same district after slow population growth forced Ohio to contract two seats in congressional redistricting last year. Kucinich ran strong in his Cuyahoga County base outside Cleveland, but Kaptur more than made up the difference around her home in Toledo and the sliver of territory between the two cities that was new to both representatives.
Kaptur’s victory puts her in pole position for the top Democratic slot on the powerful House Appropriations Committee next year. She is the second-ranking Democrat on the committee now, but ranking member Norm Dicks, D-Wash., announced last week that he will retire at the end of this Congress.

The result will also end Kucinich’s eight-term career in Congress. First elected in 1998, Kucinich used his time in the House to advocate liberal causes, often pushing the Democratic Party from the left on issues like health care reform and the Iraq War. But Kaptur’s campaign used Kucinich’s reputation as a liberal crusader against him in their merged seat race, repeating that Kucinich was a “show horse” while Kaptur more consistently brought federal money home to the district.
Kaptur’s plurality maybe more than a credit to her money raising prowess as a ranking Democrat on House appropriations. It may also have a lot to do with her cultivation of Toledo’s Muslim community. She has been unstinting as an ‘item’ at Muslim community affairs in her former Congressional District, see here.  Kaptur is even pretty adroit about quoting verses from the Qur’an. Note this from the Toledo Muslims.com:
“Islam is not the enemy. Practicing Muslims are a peaceful people. The Quran says in 35:10, Those who plot evil deeds, will have a severe punishment, while their plotting will collapse,” counseled Northwest Ohio’s Congresswoman, Marcy Kaptur. Marcy Kaptur’s words were forceful yet, compassionate as she encouraged Toledoans to love one another and stressed that Islam is a religion of peace and harmony and that the Quran is a peaceful document.
She went on to say that all Americans are brothers and sisters and that we all are in this together to a crowd of over 2000.
“I cried and my heart skipped a beat when I heard her talking about how peaceful Islam is and about Muslims,” said an onlooker that wished to remain anonymous. “She really touched my heart. I am going to hug the first Muslim I see!”
Kaptur has even gone on record as deeming the late Osama bin Laden as the moral equivalent of the founding fathers during the American revolution.  Note her 2003 Toledo Blade article drawn from a blog post at the Buckeye Rino in October 2010:
Well, let’s step back in time to March 1st, 2003. The Toledo Blade attributed quotes to Marcy Kaptur from an interview that smacks of revisionism to me. And, by the way, her take on Osama Bin Laden omits any sympathy toward Jews. Who is a more clear and present danger to Jews, Israel, and even America, today? Adolph Hitler or Osama Bin Laden?
“One could say that Osama bin Laden and these non-nation-state fighters with religious purpose are very similar to those kind of atypical revolutionaries that helped to cast off the British crown”
And she said this, too:
“I think that one thing that people of faith understand about the world of Islam is that the kind of insurgency we see occurring in many of these countries is an act of hope that life will be better using Islam as the only reed that they have to lean on.
“I think that people of faith understand that for many of the terrorists, their actions are acts of sacred piety to the point of losing their lives. And I think that people of faith understand that there is a heavy religious overtone to the opposition.”
of the Jewish faith understand and put into perspective the actions of the terrorists from such a sympathetic view? There are many within the Jewish community who exhibit religious tolerance and do not harbor personal enmity against their Muslim neighbors in America, but I don’t think there are many who would view the terrorists in the same light as Marcy Kaptur does.
Kaptur traveled to Israel in February 2011 on a program sponsored by the Cleveland Jewish Federation the time. This despite her track record of voting ‘present’ on pro-Israel Congressional resolutions. The ToledoFox.com report noted the ostensible purpose, trolling for Jewish votes in the redrawn Ohio  9th CD:
Rep. Kaptur said she’s paying for her travel, not taxpayers. This trip is part of an ongoing effort by people in the United States to bridge the barriers of politics and religion and work toward peace, she added.
“I think what Ohio has done is truly remarkable, trying to build bridges between people who never even talk to one another,” the congresswoman said. “We are using the fields of agriculture in community building, water systems, growing systems, social systems, and women’s health.”
Her late night victory over Rep. Dennis Kucinich probably makes Ms. Kaptur a virtual shoo –in against her GOP opponent in the November Congressional seat contest.  Joe Wurzelbacher (a.k.a “Joe the Plumber”) has already filed as the GOP contender in the redrawn 9th CD.   Given the  gerrymandered  Ohio 9th CD with predominately Democratic registration, Kaptur appears to be one heck of an electable  Dhimmicrat in Congress.
