Job One For The GOP: Kill The Inflation Reduction Act

https://issuesinsights.com/2022/08/16/job-one-for-the-gop-kill-the-inflation-reduction-act/

“Simply put, the IRA is jam-packed with Democratic Party crackpot ideas that couldn’t get passed on their own. It is the most rancid of rotten policy stews cooked up in more than a decade. Republicans need to campaign for the midterms on the sworn pledge that if they get veto-proof majorities in both chambers, they’ll repeal it. Fake promises, like the ones made about Obamacare, are unacceptable.”

Joe Biden’s $700 billion Inflation Reduction Act passed both the Senate and House without a single vote from Republicans. It has zero redeeming value and is the most wretched bill out of Washington since Obamacare was approved in 2010. The GOP has to take it off the books.

As we pointed out in this space weeks ago, the entire bill is a lie. It has nothing whatsoever to do with inflation and, in fact, won’t reduce it at all. The University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Wharton Budget Model says the IRA’s “impact on inflation is statistically indistinguishable from zero.” Bill Adams, chief economist for Comerica Bank, says it won’t rein in rising prices “over the short run.” Even the Congressional Budget Office says it does nothing to address inflation.

Transgenderism Destroys the Family By Eileen F. Toplansky

https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2022/01/transgenderism_destroys_the_family.html

How is it that injecting cattle with hormones is evil, but injecting kids with hormones to obscure their true sex is the new frontier?

In March of 1970, Anne Bernays penned a piece titled “What Are You Supposed to Do if You Like Children?”[1]  Her target was the Women’s Liberation Movement that was ushering in ideas that “men are sexual vampires, [and] marriage is stunting and exploitative.”

In short, Bernays focused on “liberation’s” “paralyzing excesses” because at the root of  Liberation’s determination “to disintegrate the sexes is the disabling anxiety that different means the same thing as inferior.”  But “anybody can see that women are as valuable as men but they are not more the same than ears and eyes.”

Bernays railed against the idea that “[l]iberation insists that women be absolute ‘equals’ with men.”

Why?

Those women who are “willing to acknowledge the remotest emotional obligation to husband and children, especially to children during their fragile first five or six years of life … can’t summon the time, physical energy, and psychic equipment to do two jobs simultaneously.  You can’t split a woman’s life down the middle and expect each half, like a severed worm, to go happily crawling off, to survive and function in perfect health.”

Yet that is exactly what has been demanded of most women as they valiantly try to raise a family and work outside their homes.  Or they simply decide that children are not worth their time or effort, or some other agency is left to the care and development of their children.

Jill Biden, the Meghan Markle in the WH, is egregiously guilty of elder abuse By Patricia McCarthy

The millions of Americans who were paying attention throughout the 2020 election campaign all became painfully aware of the fact that Joe Biden’s cognitive abilities were slipping and slipping fast.  His wife, as the person closest to him, should have been the one to call the campaign quits in order to reduce stress on the man.

Instead, apparently so anxious to become the First Lady by any means necessary, Mrs. Biden continued to push her failing husband’s campaign forward as if he were mentally qualified.  Of course all those around him knew as well that he was in the throes of dementia; it was impossible to miss the signs.

They too ignored the obvious and because they always believe the American people are, as a collective, an order of fries short of a Happy Meal, they thought we wouldn’t notice.  Not only was his progressive neurological dimming clear, so was the fact that at no time throughout the campaign could he draw a crowd.  We all saw that he could not give even a short talk without a giant teleprompter.  The man was toast then.  Now he is burnt toast.  He no longer ever credibly read that jumbo teleprompter.

Each attempt to speak since Inauguration Day has been an embarrassing disaster.   And there is the not-Dr. Jill to step in to complete his sentences when she should be making the announcement that we all know is coming.  She must be waiting for the Democrats to implement that 25th Amendment they had hoped to use to get rid of President Trump.  She should be very, very ashamed of herself for allowing poor Joe to suffer the indignities of encroaching dementia in public.

CHAOS BRINGS A SECOND TERM : DON SURBER

https://donsurber.blogspot.com/2020/07/chaos-brings-second-term.html

Democrats are having a good old time these days, running around, torching churches, looting stores, pulling down statues, painting Official Graffiti on the streets, and hitting cops with baseball bats.

I say to each of them, knock yourself out because it is all fun and games until the election comes around and you have to pay for your Summer of Hate.

President Donald John Trump trolled them in Seattle. He sent undercover agents to Portland, Oregon, to stop and question rioting Democrats.

That was on Friday.

On Monday, United Press International reported, “Democratic congressional leaders have called for an investigation into the legality of the Trump administration’s use of federal law enforcement officers during protests following reports of abusive practices being deployed against demonstrators in Portland.

“In a letter to the inspectors general of the Justice and Homeland Security Departments on Sunday, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, Homeland Security Committee Chairman Bennie G. Thompson and Oversight and Reform Committee Chairwoman Carolyn B. Maloney urged for an investigation to be opened into reports Trump administration officials have abused emergency authorities to prevent Americans from exercising their right to peaceful assembly.”

The right to peacefully assemble does not cover throwing rocks and other objects at the police.

Americans know this.

Waiting for the dominos to fall — in Trump’s second term Dawn Merrill

www.americanthinker.com/blog/2020/02/waiting_for_the_dominos_to_fall__in_trumps_second_term.html

Have you ever seen one of those elaborate domino displays, where an intricate pattern of upright dominos has been patiently constructed over days, or even weeks, only to fall in seconds, or minutes, by the lightest touch at any juncture?  They are a glorious sight to behold, elegant, beautiful, the result of meticulous planning and by-necessity perfection in execution.  If, while constructing such a marvel, the smallest mistake is made, the entire structure collapses, and the endeavor must be started over.

In politics, unlike in dominos, there may not be time to start over.  This brings us to the Deep State and the 2020 presidential election.

For the last three, going on four, years, we have watched as a clearly dual system of justice has been applied to our governing class.  Democrats and Leftists can do and say anything and get a slap on the wrist.  Republicans and conservatives, especially Trump-supporting Republicans and conservatives, will be punished disproportionately for the slightest error, and without mercy.  The rule of law, defined throughout our history as having been granted at the hands of our Creator, has been bifurcated and is becoming increasingly irrelevant.  Meanwhile, the rule of man ascends in direct contravention to the Founders’ intent.

Only one man, and one amazing phenomenon, stands now athwart the destruction of the American experiment: President Donald John Trump and the millions of us who stand behind him.  Like him or hate him, he is the bulwark against socialism, communism, and the utterly destructive forces of the left.  He is the domino that refuses to fall.  His re-election is the only thing that will keep this country from going over the edge.

Obama Says ‘I Didn’t Have Scandals.’ So What Are All These? Democrats and media revisionists try to make eight years of abuse disappear.By David Harsanyi

http://thefederalist.com/2018/05/29/obama-says-didnt-scandals/

At a Las Vegas tech conference last week, former president Barack Obama told an audience that his presidency had been scandal-free. “I didn’t have scandals, which seems like it shouldn’t be something you brag about,” Obama joked, according to Newsweek. We hear this talking point quite often from Democrats.

Now, perhaps the president didn’t experience the fallout from a scandal, which is very different from never having been involved in one. For this confusion, Obama can thank the political media.

Why does it matter now? For one thing, historical revisionism shouldn’t go unchallenged. Democrats are running to retake power, and many of them were participants or accomplices in numerous corrosive scandals that have been airbrushed.

The other reason, of course, is that when we start to juxtapose the mythically idyllic Obama presidency with the tumultuous reign of Trump, we’re reminded that many journalists largely abdicated their responsibilities for eight years — which has a lot to do with the situation we find ourselves in today.

It’s not about Obama’s brazen lying about Obamacare or even recurrent abuse of power. I’m talking about supposed non-scandals like “Operation Fast and Furious,” a program devised by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) that put around 2,000 weapons into the hands of narco-traffickers (and an Islamic terrorist), leading to the murder of hundreds of Mexicans and at least one American, border agent Brian Terry.

The body count could have been higher when a homegrown extremist who, with another assailant, attempted to murder the audience at a “Draw Muhammad” contest in Garland, Texas with one of the Fast and Furious weapons. An off-duty police officer killed both of the attackers.

Despite the incompetence, absurdity, recklessness, and fatalities of the program, the entire affair never really received scandal-like attention. No one lost his job. There will almost certainly be a tweet from Trump this week that political media will afford more attention than a story in which an American border agent was murdered with the gun Obama’s ATF provided.

Not even when the administration refused to cooperate with congressional investigators was it handled like a scandal. Not even when a federal judge rejected Obama’s assertion of executive privilege in efforts to deny Congress files relating to the gun-walking operation was it treated as a scandal. Not even when we learned that Obama attorney general Eric Holder misled Congress about when he was made aware of the program did it rise to the importance of a Trump tweet. Holder became the first sitting attorney general in American history to be held in contempt of Congress — a vote that included 17 Democrats — and Obama still never paid a political price.

As it was, the Obama administration persistently ignored courts and oversight, breaking norms because it was allowed to do so. The president was articulate, friendly, and progressive. He might have executed an American citizen without a trial (not a scandal!), but his contempt for the process could be forgiven.

Travesty of a Justice -Ginsburg traduces judicial norms. James Taranto

Supreme Court justices have gotten involved in partisan politics before. Charles Evans Hughes even ran for president. But he resigned from the court before accepting the 1916 Republican presidential nomination. (He returned to the court in 1930, when President Hoover appointed him to succeed Chief Justice William Howard Taft, himself a former president.)

Ruth Bader Ginsburg should have resigned before giving her latest interview, to the New York Times’s Adam Liptak. “Unless they have a book to sell, Supreme Court justices rarely give interviews,” Liptak boasts. “Even then, they diligently avoid political topics.” Ginsburg, he gently observes, “takes a different approach”:

These days, she is making no secret of what she thinks of a certain presidential candidate.

“I can’t imagine what this place would be—I can’t imagine what the country would be—with Donald Trump as our president,” she said. “For the country, it could be four years. For the court, it could be—I don’t even want to contemplate that.”

It reminded her of something her husband, Martin D. Ginsburg, a prominent tax lawyer who died in 2010, would have said.

“‘Now it’s time for us to move to New Zealand,’ ” Justice Ginsburg said, smiling ruefully.

“She’d feel right at home there,” quips the New York Sun’s Seth Lipsky. “It turns out that New Zealand doesn’t even have a constitution.” Instead it has a series of statutes called the Constitution Act of 1986. Also New Zealanders drive on the left.

While we’re on the subject, Statistics New Zealand, a government agency, has “busted” the “myth” that the country has 20 sheep for every human inhabitant, a factoid that “adds weight to myriad sheep jokes,” as the Stats NZ website complains. In reality, “the sheep-to-person ratio has fallen and contrary to popular belief there are actually about six sheep per person, not 20.” The site is silent as to how Ginsburg’s immigration would affect the ratio.

Actually, her choice of country is the best thing about Ginsburg’s latest emanations. At least she departed from the tired trope of celebrities’ threatening emptily to move to Canada if a Republican is elected president. But a Supreme Court justice should not be expressing an opinion about an election, unless—as in the case of Bush v. Gore (2000), it becomes necessary for the court to resolve a legal dispute arising from it.

Donald Trump is Barack Obama’s third term By Rick Small

If you wish there were no 22nd Amendment, enabling Barack Obama to continue his successes, here and abroad, then the next best thing for you is to vote for Donald Trump.

Huey Long said, “If fascism comes to America, it will be called anti-fascism.” In truth, if fascism comes to 21st-century America, it should be called game show hucksterism.

If six years of an immature, pampered narcissist have not been enough for you – if you enjoy rule by a clique of incompetent über-wealthy cronies, with little regard for the constitution, led by a man with distorted knowledge of history, geopolitics, economics, basic science, world religions and conflicts, yet thinks he knows everything; who easily lies about his faith, and anything else, at any time or any place; who believes that language is as flexible as Humpty Dumpty’s words or merely Orwellian expedients; who has no fixed values and cannot be relied upon to keep his word; who was created by a craven, money-driven, valueless media; who has had the skids of life greased for him; who enjoys luxury to excess; who credits himself with every success, real or imagined; who never acknowledges a failure, even when his own words refute his lie; who never constructs a reasoned argument in debate; who never treats with respect those with a different opinion; who is intolerant of dissent and is highly insulted by even the mildest criticism; who appeals to our basest instincts and grossly disrespects women who dare disagree with him; who does not seek to advance with ethical compromise, but rather prefers to bully – a man with no humility – then Trump is your man. President Trump will not only be Obama’s third term – he will be Obama’s hard-earned and well-deserved legacy.

ED LASKY: OUR BORED PRESIDENT

http://www.americanthinker.com/2013/12/our_bored_president.html

Valerie Jarrett, Obama’s Rasputin, unwittingly provided us an answer to the question of why the Obama Presidency is such a man-caused disaster.

There are few people who are close to the notoriously insular Barack Obama (a former aide, Neera Tanden, said that “Obama doesn’t call anyone, and he’s not close to almost anyone. It’s stunning that he’s in politics, because he really doesn’t like people”) but Valerie Jarrett is among the select few. They have been friends for decades; she introduced Barack to Michelle; she is a constant presence in the White House, and highly unusual for a White House aide, enjoys her own Secret Service protective detail. And when she described Barack Obama as having been “bored to death his whole life” she helped explained what lies behind a failed presidency.

People familiar with Barack Obama’s history realize he has a very low threshold for boredom. This is a trait shared by many millennials: they bore easily, and that character flaw is one reason employers refrain from hiring them. Yet they feel entitled to promotions as a way for others to display gratitude towards them and to give them an ego booster shot. They want to be stimulated and entertained all the time and find work tedious and…boring.

Obama’s boredom began early.

When interviewed upon becoming the first black Harvard Law Review President he told the Associated Press, “I’m not interested in the suburbs. The suburbs bore me”; by inference, suburbanites bore him, as well — and we know how he feels about small-town Americans). Ah…to be jaded and judgmental so early in life and to feel free to spout stereotypes.

EDWARD CLINE: STEALTHY MOVES AGAINST FREEDOM OF SPEECH

http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/publications/detail/stealthy-moves-against-freedom-of-speech
http://www.ruthfullyyours.com/?p=63046

Advocates and defenders of the First Amendment and freedom of speech are strung out like the three Roman legions that were ambushed and ultimately annihilated by barbarians in the dense Teutoburg Forest in Germany in 9 A.D. Out of a force of about 36,000 fighting men, the Romans suffered between 16,000 and 20,000 casualties.

The First Amendment, appended to the Constitution with nine other Amendments which became known collectively as the Bill of Rights, reads:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

And that Amendment is all Americans have at present protecting them from censorship and a dictatorship. We are marching into an ambush by secular advocates of censorship and Islamic ones. Our political leadership is either as ignorant of the perils as were the Roman army’s generals, or just as careless in its defense, or oft times even hostile to it.

No European nation has the equivalent of the First Amendment. As Bruce Bawer, an American journalist who has lived in Europe for years, noted in his October 2010 column on the trial of Geert Wilders, the Dutch politician who stood trial for “blaspheming” Islam (and who was subsequently acquitted of all charges):

One of the most bizarre aspects of being an American in Western Europe – at least if you’re an American who has opinions and is used to expressing them freely – is getting accustomed to the fact that there’s no First Amendment over here. Some of us grew up thinking of Western Europe as part of the “Free World.” But how free is a country if it doesn’t recognize freedom of speech as a fundamental right?
