I don’t think many Americans realize how difficult it is to come to America legally. 

Among my own friends, I know an academic who has spent the past year in legal limbo, not allowed to work between teaching positions and constantly waiting to learn whether he can stay in America. 

In Georgia, I know a couple — the husband is American, the wife British — who can still not legalize as a couple, despite years of marriage and years of being together, who want to get themselves to America. 

The only reason I mention the plight of the law-abiding is because it stands in such stark contrast to the situation of the law-breaking. 

Our pro-immigration politicians in America are loudly on the side of anyone who comes to America illegally. 

But it is rare to find representatives who are on the side of people who are trying to do everything by the book. 

While lots of representatives speak up for the law-breaking, few speak up for or help the law-abiding. 

That is because it is perfectly clear that the immigration situation in this country has run away from its representatives.

Some 8 to 10 million illegal aliens from all over the world, as expected, have flooded across the border since Joe Biden took office.

A demagogic candidate Biden, remember, in 2019 invited those massing at the southern border to “surge” into the United States without specifying they first needed legal sanction: “We immediately surge to the border all those seeking asylum.”

In contrast, we know legal immigration is America’s great strength, but it has always depended on a few key prerequisites.

Immigration must be legal and measured.

Why? Because only the host nation can adjudicate how many immigrants it can successfully accept and assimilate. It has no desire to encourage Balkanized tribalism so common in nations abroad torn apart by ethnic conflict.

America must have some knowledge of the background of immigrants, especially whether they have criminal records, belong to gangs, are importing drugs, carry infectious diseases, or can be self-supporting.

Under the failed leadership of President Joe Biden and his now-impeached Department of Homeland Security secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, a new crime wave is sweeping the nation — one that can be traced back to the historic influx of illegal aliens. The tragic death of 22-year-old Laken Riley, allegedly at the hands of a Venezuelan illegal alien paroled into the country in 2022, has shocked the national conscience and driven home this reality.

Though President Biden failed to acknowledge it during his recent State of the Union address, the unprecedented, self-inflicted crisis at our borders is increasingly putting our communities at risk.

Criminal aliens are increasingly seeking to exploit the wide-open Southwest border. Since the start of fiscal year (FY) 2021, the Border Patrol has recorded 43,674 arrests of illegal aliens with criminal backgrounds, a 99 percent increase from FY2017–20 combined. According to Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens, “hardened criminals often hide in smuggled migrant groups,” trying to take advantage of overwhelmed Border Patrol agents. By October 2023, agents were apprehending around 47 illegal aliens with “serious criminal histories” per day.

There are now more than 617,000 criminal illegal aliens on the Non-Detained Docket who have been released into our communities to await the outcome of their cases, up from 407,983 in January 2023.

And these are just the ones being caught. With thousands of agents pulled off the border to process and release illegal aliens in the United States, roughly 2 million aliens have entered the country uncaught, and are now at large in our communities — and we know nothing about their backgrounds or intentions.

That was Joe Biden in a recent interview with MSNBC. One of the people he wasn’t going to disrespect was Antonio Ibarra, the Venezuelan national charged with murdering University of Georgia student Laken Riley, misnamed as “Lincoln Riley.”  Biden failed to name or condemn Ibarra, and apologized for calling him an illegal, contending that “undocumented” was the proper term. None of this should come as a surprise.

“You know, 11 million people live in the shadows. I believe they’re already American citizens,” said vice president Biden in 2014. According to Delaware Democrat, all the 11 million wanted was a chance to contribute, so “let people vote.” Biden is not going to disrespect “any any any” of those he has brought in, even the criminals, because they add to his imported electorate. The illegals are replacements for the legitimate citizens Biden hates, as he confirmed in his September 1, 2022 speech. So when criminal illegals murder Americans, the Delaware Democrat looks the other way.

In 2014, false-documented Mexican national Luis Bracamontes murdered Sacramento deputies officers Danny Oliver and Michael Davis. During his trial, Bracamontes said he wished he killed more cops, and yelled “black lives don’t matter,” at Danny Oliver’s wife, at Anthony Holmes, whom he shot five times, and at members of the jury. Vice president Biden never mentioned the case, not even to denounce “gun violence.”

In late 2018, a criminal illegal calling himself Paulo Virgen Mendoza shot dead Newman, California, police officer Ronil “Ron” Singh, a legal immigrant who came to the United States to work in law enforcement. Seven other illegals aided the killer’s flight before the fugitive murderer was apprehended. Joe Biden ignored the case. He is not going to disrespect “any any any” member of his imported electorate, even the criminals who murder innocent Americans.

The brutal killing of a Georgia nursing student has further laid bare the depravity of the anti-borders movement, and the complicity of those who attempt to whitewash illegal immigration.

Late last month, an illegal alien from Venezuela was arrested after allegedly brutally murdering 22-year-old Laken Riley. The alleged perpetrator, Jose Antonio Ibarra, allegedly disfigured Riley’s skull after kidnapping her, and then ultimately took her life. This latest tragedy was an all-systems failure by the federal government and local governments. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has confirmed that Ibarra crossed the border illegally in 2022. He then traveled to New York where he was arrested for “acting in a manner to injure a child,” according to ICE. Apparently, Ibarra was then released by New York authorities in compliance with the city’s sanctuary policies. He then traveled to Athens, Ga., where he allegedly committed this heinous crime. This brazen disregard for the rule of law at all levels of government is what got Riley killed. Riley’s government—which was supposed to protect her—completely failed her and her family.

While we still do not know all the details of this case, we do know that both cities this illegal alien is confirmed to have settled in have routinely flouted federal immigration law. New York has a long history of harboring criminal illegal aliens, and a 2022 study conducted by the Immigration Reform Law Institute found it to be the most dangerous sanctuary city in the country.  While Georgia state law officially prohibits sanctuary cities, authorities in Athens limit cooperation with federal law enforcement. Even after Riley’s tragic slaying, Athens Mayor Kelly Girtz claimed there is no link between illegal immigration and crime, a nonsensical statement that is easily disproved. Laken Riley’s death was not an aberration, but the latest chapter in a disturbing pattern of illegal alien driven carnage.

President Joe Biden said during a feisty State of the Union address on Thursday that he was “ready to fix” the southern border, and he blamed Donald Trump for pressuring congressional Republicans to derail a bipartisan border-security bill that he said would have allowed him to do so.

Despite the border chaos on his watch, Biden touted his immigration efforts, declaring that “on my first day in office, I introduced a comprehensive plan to fix our immigration system, secure the border, and provide a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers and so much more.”

But while he tried to point the blame at Trump and Republicans, Biden failed to acknowledge that he and his administration bear most of the blame for the historic surge of illegal crossings that began shortly after his inauguration in 2021. And he didn’t acknowledge that he already largely has authority to take action on his own to improve security at the border.

Biden said the bipartisan border bill would have hired more border-security agents, immigration judges, and asylum officers, and it would have given him “new emergency authority to temporarily shut down the border when the number of migrants at the border is overwhelming.” Republicans jeered.

“What are you against?” Biden said. “Look at the facts. I know you know how to read.”

He blamed the bill’s failure on Trump, whom he did not name. “I’m told my predecessor called Republicans in Congress and demanded they block the bill. He feels it would be a political win for me and a political loser for him.” He flubbed a line about the bill, saying “I’d be a winner” instead of “It’d be a winner for America,” and he egged on Republicans, telling them that they “owe it to the American people to get this bill done.”

At one point he appeared to botch the name of Laken Riley, a young Georgia woman who was recently killed by an illegal immigrant while she was jogging — Biden called her “Lincoln.”

“We can fight about the border, or we can fix it,” Biden said. “I’m ready to fix it.”

The Joe Biden presidency has had its share of missteps, maybe more than any other administration before it. But the latest scandalous behavior is not an error in the eyes of this White House. In pursuit of cultural and political engineering that only the Democrats would ever consider, the administration has flown 320,000 illegal immigrants into the country directly from foreign airports.

According to the ​​Center for Immigration Studies, “U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has approved secretive flights that last year alone ferried hundreds of thousands of inadmissible aliens from foreign airports into some 43 American ones over the past year, all pre-approved on a cell phone app.”

This was not disclosed at a news conference or at the daily White House press briefing but learned through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit that pried the information from an administration that clearly wanted to hide it.

It’s anyone’s guess as to where these aliens have landed. The CBP has withheld the names of the airports that “received 320,000 inadmissible aliens from January through December 2023.” It is also refusing to reveal which foreign airports the immigrants departed from.

Worse, the “passengers” are apparently unvetted, which suggests “it is highly probable the groundwork is being laid for something far worse than 9/11,” says Elon Musk.

A dirty, dangerous, job and the Border Patrol shouldn’t have to do it.

As if the Border Patrol doesn’t already have enough to do changing diapers and ‘processing’ tens of thousands of illegal border crossers to their destinations of choice in the U.S., now somebody’s got bandit duty.

According to Fox News:

Border patrol agents in California shot and killed a bandit who was robbing other migrants as they crossed into the U.S. from Mexico.

Multiple U.S. Customs and Border Protection sources confirmed that a criminal migrant who crossed the border in the San Diego sector was shot and killed by a member of the Border Patrol’s elite Border Patrol Tactical unit, or BORTAC, early Sunday morning.

The incident happened in a remote area where the bandits had been seen crossing into the U.S., robbing migrants and returning to Mexico.

Border Patrol agents responded to “bandit activity” on Sunday morning, when they came across a small group of bandits who were robbing migrants as they were walking to an area where migrants surrender to agents so they can be processed.

So, bandits are now becoming a problem at the border, a problem we didn’t have much of until Joe Biden opened the border.

It’s shocking stuff, pretty much like the Wild West now, except that banditry isn’t the only illegal thing going on at the U.S. border — the crossings themselves are illegal, but those doing it are viewed as now entitled to a safe illegal crossing, not an unsafe one, complete with security guards, still illegal as heck, though and more service with a smile.

Now, there wouldn’t be any bandit activity if there weren’t fat, juicy, easy targets for bandits to rob to begin with. Bandits could just as easily rob people in cities and plenty of them do. But they know that most designer-dud-clad illegal migrants, some with suitcases, carry a lot of money. And so long as those illegal crossings continue and migrants know that if they can get in, they can stay, the bandit harvestings will be ample.
