Dems’ Hysterical Fits Over Trump’s White House Ballroom Remodel Shows There’s No Bottom To TDS

Of all the things that Democrats have tried to tar President Donald Trump with, none is as petty, stupid and inconsequential as the current flap over remodeling the East Wing of the White House. But since Dems shut down the government, they have nothing else to do these days – apart from inciting their far-left followers to commit violence.

These are dangerous times in the world, both abroad and here in the U.S.

And yet, here’s California’s too-slick Gov. Gavin Newsom’s comment: “He’s literally destroying the White House.

No, he’s “literally” not “destroying” the White House. He’s remodeling it. As anyone who has added a room or built a patio will tell you.

Nor, per Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut, is it “absolutely illegal” for Trump to build a ballroom on the little-used East Wing

Don’t believe it? See the image below. To call this “destroying the White House” or any such inanity isn’t even adjacent to the truth.

Inveterate Trump Hater (and 2016 presidential loser to Trump) Hillary Clinton had this to say: “It’s not his house. It’s your house. And he’s destroying it.”

This is of course ridiculous.

Since the New Deal, the White House has undergone renovations several times, three of those by Democrats (FDR, who added 25,000 square feet to the West Wing to help manage the expanding New Deal bureaucracy; Harry S Truman, who had badly needed safety improvements made to the 133-year-old residence; Republican Richard Nixon, who added a single bowling lane; and, of course, Barack Obama, who added a basketball court added and a few other embellishments, at a cost of $376 million.)

Is there a difference between the above and Trump’s work?

You bet. For one, taxpayers aren’t paying for Trump’s re-do. Outside donations are ponying up the estimated $250 million in cost. Not you, Mr. Taxpayer.

For another, it’s hard to remember a clear, material improvement to the presidential mansion launching such a laughably out-of-context response as Trump’s ballroom addition – something future Democrat and Republican presidents will get to use.

We wonder: Will Democrats refuse to attend events in “Trump’s Ballroom” when a Dem becomes president again someday? Not a chance.

Democrats’ ginned-up outrage (we could list literally dozens of caustic quotations and even threats from a congressional leader and a former Biden speechwriter about Trump’s project) shows their desperation, as their federal government shutdown didn’t turn out to be the political boon they thought.

Meanwhile, Democrat do-nothings look awfully pathetic, screaming from the sidelines like children about a remodeling job as Trump addresses serious global problems the nation faces, one by one:

  • Illegal immigration slashed by closing the border and deporting criminals.
  • Ending or temporarily halting eight armed conflicts around the world during the first eight months in office, including those between Israel and Iran; Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo; Armenia and Azerbaijan; Thailand and Cambodia; India and Pakistan (nuclear powers); Egypt and Ethiopia; Serbia and Kosovo and, most recently, Israel and Hamas.
  • Addressing the threat of narco-terrorists by direct military action on the open seas, and by hardline diplomacy with cartel-backed socialist governments in Colombia and Venezuela.
  • Fending off continuing geopolitical challenges from Russia and China, as each tries to disrupt , occupy and bully neighboring nations.
  • Shrinking the budget deficit, something none thought would be possible but, with more revenue from tariffs and cost-cutting by government, is now a reality.
  • And keeping tax cuts in place through Republican passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which will save taxpayers literally trillions of dollars in the coming years, according to the Tax Foundation.

How’s that for two-thirds of a year? None of this, of course, will stop desperate Dems from throwing rhetorical rocks at Trump’s new ballroom. But those who throw rocks, as our pre-woke mothers wisely warned us, shouldn’t live in glass houses.

That’s certainly true for the power-hungry Newsom, struggling to stay relevant as recent polls show his burning ambition to be the next president isn’t likely to be rewarded at the polls.

Newsom is typical of his class of Democrats, criticizing Republicans for legitimate activities while ignoring their own hypocritical actions.

On X, this observation from Kevin Dalton: “I wonder why everyone on the left is so upset about President Trump‘s expansion of the White House that is being 100% funded by donations, but have zero interest in the $1.6 billion expansion of Gavin Newsom‘s California Capitol that is 100% taxpayer funded and 100% cloaked in NDA’s and cronyism.”

Yes, we wonder too.

Of course, this Democratic political tantrum will pass, as have all the others. But the absurd over-reaction to Trump’s remodel underscores the Democrats’ drift into extremism, alienating voters and financial supporters alike. Can they pull back and become a party of the responsible center? It sure doesn’t look like it.
