America Has Two Major Parties- The Republicans and the Authoritarians

Yearning to breathe free has become an offense in Canada punishable by arrest. The extreme measures taken by boy Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in breaking up the truckers’ protest should appall every person in this country. But one group of Americans overwhelmingly approves of Trudeau’s jackbooted crackdown. In another time they’d be called the agents of tyranny, but for now they’re still known as Democrats.

Rather than sitting down with the truckers demonstrating in Ottawa to civilly discuss their grievances and seek a peaceful end to their takeover of the capital’s downtown, Trudeau instead launched “an unprecedented violation of civil rights.” A “giant security force” was “amassed to quell the demonstration,” writes Canadian Laura Koot, managing editor of The National, which covers the Middle East. She went “from feeling great pride for my home country to being filled with shame and horror” in the course of a week.

While we support the truckers’ objective – to break Trudeau’s infringement of human liberty – a legitimate government has the authority to remove those who block public spaces, whether they are Black Lives Matter belligerents, Antifa thugs, or truck drivers who simply want to be left alone to do their jobs.

But Trudeau went well beyond that. His government became illegitimate the moment he used the country’s Emergencies Act to destroy, as radio talk show host Dennis Prager wrote, “the lives of Canadian dissidents.” He arrested peaceful demonstrators as if they were terrorists, stole from supporters, and seized protestors’ trucks, which the mayor of Ottawa wants to sell off. (Proving that power-grasping minds think alike, a Democratic member of the U.S. House wants to “impound” the trucks of any protesters who would demonstrate in Washington and give them to the groups of his choice.)

Apparently, what has happened so far in Canada is only the beginning.

According to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation:

The government’s new directive, called the ’emergency economic measures order,’ goes beyond asking banks to simply stop transferring funds to protest organizers. The government wants banks to stop doing business with some people altogether.

The order says that banks and other financial entities (like credit unions, co-ops, loan companies, trusts and cryptocurrency platforms) must stop ‘providing any financial or related services’ to people associated with the protests – a move that will result in frozen accounts, stranded money and canceled credit cards.

Who else has frozen the bank accounts of his political opposition? Russian President Vladimir Putin. Where else have we seen a social credit system that ranks and punishes citizens based on their relationships with the ruling party? China.

Simply put, Trudeau’s response was that of a despot, not the head of a free Western nation.

And American Democrats like what they’ve seen: 66% approve of the prime minister’s raid while only 17% disapprove. These are voters – no surprise – from the same party that sided with violent BLM and Antifa riots that killed, maimed, and destroyed.

Meanwhile, 87% of those who identify with the nation’s other major political group, the Republican Party, disapprove of Trudeau’s repression, his “war on dissent,” while only 8% approve. Overall, 55% of Americans disapprove.

Feeling the chill yet? It’s there, and it’s blowing in hard from Ottawa.

Hope remains, though. Poll results indicate that younger Americans are disturbed by Trudeau’s spiteful behavior: 100% of respondents from 25 to 34 disapprove of his ugly tantrum. This inspires a little confidence in the face of true villainy that, yes, can happen here.
