Voter ID Requirements Make Sense But not to the Democrats. Terence P. Jeffrey

https://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/2022/01/voter-id-requirements-make-sense-terence-p-jeffrey/
“It is not unreasonable in the 21st century to require people who want to vote to demonstrate that they are legally eligible to do so by presenting a valid form of identification.”

A young man who looks like a teenager walks into a liquor store and pulls a bottle of cheap whiskey off a shelf.

He puts it down at the checkout counter and pulls out his wallet.

The clerk at the counter looks at him skeptically. “Can I see your ID?” he asks.

“Yes,” says the young man, who instantly takes his driver’s license out of his wallet and hands it to the clerk.

The driver’s license indicates to the clerk that the customer in front of him had turned 21 two months ago. He sells him the cheap whiskey.

Then another young man walks into the store. He grabs a bottle of very expensive champagne and puts it on the counter.

Once again, the clerk asks the young man if he has an ID.

“No,” says the young man.

“Then I can’t sell you this champagne,” says the clerk.

“You have got to be kidding me,” says the young man. “I am 22 years old.”

“Then prove it,” says the clerk.

“I left my driver’s license at home,” says the young man.

“Then go get it,” says the clerk.

“No, I’ll go buy my champagne somewhere else,” says the young man, who leaves the store in disgust.

This second hypothetical young man, however, was only 19, which made him old enough to vote but not old enough to buy champagne.

Money for Indoctrination How consultants spread Critical Race Theory. John Stossel

https://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/2022/01/money-indoctrination-john-stossel/

Glenn Youngkin recently was elected Virginia’s governor partly because he promised to ban teaching of CRT.

CRT stands for critical race theory, which argues that every American institution upholds white supremacy.

Before Youngkin’s surprise victory, the media mocked him for complaining about CRT.

NBC’s Nicolle Wallace said it isn’t even taught in public schools. “That is like us banning the ghosts!” she laughed.

She is wrong.

In my new video, journalist Asra Nomani reveals some rather creepy CRT lessons that are taught in many schools.

Nomani filed Freedom of Information Act requests that forced school districts to reveal how they pay consultants to spread critical race theory.

The Dems’ Media Turn on Biden But keep his failing bad ideas. Bruce Thornton

https://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/2022/01/dems-media-turn-biden-bruce-thornton/

The Biden Administrations’ failures are so numerous and egregious, as Jim Geraghty catalogues, that court-scribes like the New York Times, Washington Post, and CNN are turning on him. Even DNC heartthrob Stacey Abrams, chronic denier of election results, snubbed Biden when he came to Georgia.

The media’s new-found willingness to fulfill their self-proclaimed sacred charge to “afflict the comfortable” and “speak truth to power,” however, is driven not by a recovered fidelity to fact, evidence-based argument, and objectivity, but by Biden’s record-setting disapproval numbers, especially the declines among Latinos, independents, and young people––constituencies critical for the Democrats’ longed-for “permanent majority.”

So don’t expect the current criticism to signal the media’s return to fact and coherent argument. They’ve just been spooked by the specter of a red midterm tsunami come November. They’re still slaves to the anti-constitutional Leviathan technocracy, growth-killing regulate-tax-redistribute economics,  illiberal racialist identity politics, naïve globalism, and preposterous narratives of “white supremacists,” “systemic racism,” “voter suppression,” and the Trump-led “insurrection” against “our democracy.”

A column from the Washington Post’s Megan McArdle illustrates this reflexive fidelity to ideology and lies in the face of the media’s patent contribution to Biden’s failures. The bulk of her piece chides the Democrats for not taking seriously the possibility of a Republican return to power, because Dems stereotype conservatives as the party of “reactionary whites” condemned by demographic change to wander forever in the political wilderness. This misperception has pushed the current Democrat control of all three branches of government too far to the left, and hence alienates the party’s moderates and white working-class voters, as well as Asians and Hispanics whom Republicans have been siphoning from the Democrat coalition.

No Course Correction for Joe Biden After a year in office, an unpopular President says full speed ahead.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/no-course-correction-for-joe-biden-speech-policy-11642634158?mod=opinion_lead_pos2

President Biden took questions from the press for nearly two hours Wednesday, his 364th day in office, which would have been an opportune moment to announce a change in strategy or agenda. In one poll this week, 37% of voters graded his first year as an F, and another 12% gave it a D.

Instead Mr. Biden offered more of the same. No, he said, he didn’t overpromise the public about what he could accomplish. He believes he has “outperformed” and delivered “enormous progress.” Americans simply don’t know the details of his successes. He had “no apologies” for the debacle in Afghanistan.

The inflation Americans are seeing at their grocery stores and gas stations “has everything to do with the supply chain,” not any poor policies in Washington.

Is he satisfied with the government’s response to Covid-19? “Yeah, I am satisfied. I think we’ve done remarkably well,” he said. He acknowledged that on testing the White House could “have moved a month earlier,” but “with everything else that was going on, I don’t view that as somehow a mark of incompetence.” No bucks stop here.

Biden’s first year of epic failures By Rajan Laad

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2022/01/bidens_first_year_of_epic_failures.html

Whatever he touches turns to disaster; sadly it is likely there will be three more years of this mess.

It has been exactly a year since Biden entered the White House and it is time to take stock of his record thus far.

The economy is failing with Inflation at a 39-year high causing essential items to be more expensive. This has hurt all Americans especially those from lower-income groups who are already suffering following prolonged lockdowns.

For those affluent Americans not affected by high inflation, the supply chain crisis has caused a shortage of essential commodities all over the country.

The influx of around 1.7 million illegal aliens places an enormous burden on taxpayers. The fact that these migrants are not vetted causes them to be a considerable safety risk.

Covid-19 and Omicron cases continue to surge, the impact is much worse than it was under President Trump. Despite a promise to “shut down” the virus, Biden has no strategy to combat the virus. He called it the “pandemic of the unvaccinated,” attempting to blame citizens. He also claimed there is no federal solution to combat Covid-19.

Beyond America, the hasty and ill-planned withdrawal from Afghanistan has left that country unstable, and has undone all development in that region. The Taliban has banned teenage girls from attending school. Harsh winters have caused Afghans to plunge into abject poverty and hunger. American citizens still remain in Afghanistan.

The Afghanistan disaster has emboldened China and Russia, who continue to display brazen aggression towards their respective neighbors of Taiwan and Ukraine.

The authoritarians must be stopped By Eric Utter

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2022/01/the_authoritarians_must_be_stopped.html

Democrats and “progressives,” and authoritarians of all stripes, have imposed their will on the rest of us for two years now, in the form of mask and vaccine mandates.

There can’t be a worse, more dangerous, and outright evil class of people than those who want to tell others how to think and what to do. Those who would rule you and take away your liberty do not do it “for your own good.” Ever. The Founders knew this. That is why they pushed back hard against “The Intolerable Acts. It is why they tossed tea into the harbor. It is why they eventually fought the world’s mightiest military. And it is why they so valued the Right to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness granted to us by our Creator.

It led Patrick Henry to proclaim, “Give me liberty or give me death.”

George Washington could have been king. He declined. He also declined to serve a third term as president, desperately wanting to return to domestic life at Mount Vernon rather than continue as the most powerful man in the nation. When England’s King George III, America’s implacable enemy, heard of this he exclaimed, “If he does that, he will be the greatest man in the world.”

More than 600,000 Americans died in the Civil War that others may be free.

This is our heritage as citizens of the United States of America. And I, for one, am getting damned sick of that heritage being bastardized, twisted, denied, denigrated and mocked.

Youngkin Taps Anti-CRT Leader as Virginia Diversity Officer By Caroline Downey

https://www.nationalreview.com/news/youngkin-taps-anti-crt-leader-as-virginia-diversity-officer/

Virginia governor Glenn Youngkin tapped prominent anti-critical race theory activist Angela Sailor as the state’s new director of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

“The people of Virginia elected the most diverse leadership in the Commonwealth’s history. Virginia is big enough for the hopes and dreams of a diverse people. Angela Sailor’s experience in government, nonprofits and the private sector will guide us as we ensure that the government is working for all Virginians across our diverse Commonwealth, especially when it comes to economic opportunity for all Virginians,” Youngkin said.

In appointing her to the position, Youngkin also issued an executive order that will reorient the office away from realizing racialized equality-of-outcome objectives. Instead, the office will focus on creating economic opportunity for disadvantaged Virginians, enforcing “free speech and civil discourse” in academia, and ensuring that students receive an “honest, objective, and complete” civic education,” Richmond Times-Dispatch reported.

The governor also announced that he would introduce legislation to change the word “equity” in the office’s name to “opportunity.”

Without specifying racial background, the executive order reads: “…too many of our citizens have not received the equal opportunity they deserve, and we recognize that diversity when genuinely embraced strengthens our Commonwealth.”

Senate Dems Fail to Pass ‘Voting Rights’ Legislation, Filibuster Change By Brittany Bernstein

https://www.nationalreview.com/news/senate-dems-fail-to-pass-voting-rights-legislation/

Senate Democrats on Wednesday evening failed to pass both their “voting rights” legislation and a rules change to the filibuster.

The motion to end debate on and advance to a vote the Democrats’ “voting rights” bill failed in the Senate along party lines. Forty-nine senators voted in the affirmative, and 51 senators, including moderate Democratic senators Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, voted against. The Democrats needed to have 60 votes to overcome the GOP filibuster. Democratic Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer changed his vote to “no” at the last minute so that he could put the item back on the table later.

“This party-line push has never been about securing citizens’ rights,” said Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell on the chamber floor. “It’s about expanding politicians’ power.”

With all Republicans and the two centrists opposed, the Senate voted 52-48 to keep the current filibuster rules. The Senate had debated a rules change to exempt the voting package from the 60-vote hurdle, an unlikely prospect given insufficient votes.

“The only way to achieve our goal of passing voter rights, ending dark money, and ending partisan gerrymandering is by changing the rules. Because our colleagues from the other side of the aisle don’t want to join us in these noble endeavors,” Schumer said.

It was all-but-certain that the votes would fail in the 50–50 Senate given opposition from Republicans and the two moderate Democrats.

Despite the long odds, Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) chose to push forward a vote on the elections package, which joined together two bills that Republicans blocked last year: the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act.

The Dems’ Total War On Republicans Has Totally Backfired

https://issuesinsights.com/2022/01/20/the-dems-total-war-on-republicans-has-totally-backfired/

For the past year, Democrats up and down the leadership ladder have been on an endless campaign to portray Republicans as delusional out-of-touch anti-science hate-mongering conspiracy-peddling vote-suppressing anti-vaxxer insurrectionist racists.

The result has been a huge shift in party preference: away from Democrats and toward Republicans. Have voters finally wised up to the left’s cravenness and radicalism? Will this newfound awareness last?

Gallup this week released its survey on party preference, which found what it describes as “a dramatic shift” over the course of 2021. The public went from favoring Democrats by a 9-point margin at the start of the year to favoring Republicans by a 5-point margin by year’s end – a stunning 14-point shift in preference.

Gallup says “Both the 9-point Democratic advantage in the first quarter and the 5-point Republican edge in the fourth quarter are among the largest Gallup has measured for each party in any quarter since it began regularly measuring party identification and leaning in 1991.”

This follows other polls that show a similarly wild swing in favor of Republicans. A CNBC poll, for example, found that Americans support Republicans over Democrats by a 10-point margin – a record, and “a significant swing that may produce a Republican landslide victory in the 2022 House and Senate midterms.”

Jordan Peterson: Why I am no longer a tenured professor at the University of Toronto

https://nationalpost.com/opinion/jordan-peterson-why-i-am-no-longer-a-tenured-professor-at-the-university-of-toronto

The appalling ideology of diversity, inclusion and equity is demolishing education and business.

“And it’s not just the universities. And the professional colleges. And Hollywood. And the corporate world. Diversity, Inclusivity and Equity — that radical leftist Trinity — is destroying us. Wondering about the divisiveness that is currently besetting us? Look no farther than DIE. Wondering — more specifically — about the attractiveness of Trump? Look no farther than DIE. When does the left go too far? When they worship at the altar of DIE, and insist that the rest of us, who mostly want to be left alone, do so as well. Enough already. Enough. Enough.”

I recently resigned from my position as full tenured professor at the University of Toronto. I am now professor emeritus, and before I turned sixty. Emeritus is generally a designation reserved for superannuated faculty, albeit those who had served their term with some distinction. I had envisioned teaching and researching at the U of T, full time, until they had to haul my skeleton out of my office. I loved my job. And my students, undergraduates and graduates alike, were positively predisposed toward me. But that career path was not meant to be. There were many reasons, including the fact that I can now teach many more people and with less interference online. But here’s a few more:

First, my qualified and supremely trained heterosexual white male graduate students (and I’ve had many others, by the way) face a negligible chance of being offered university research positions, despite stellar scientific dossiers. This is partly because of Diversity, Inclusivity and Equity mandates (my preferred acronym: DIE). These have been imposed universally in academia, despite the fact that university hiring committees had already done everything reasonable for all the years of my career, and then some, to ensure that no qualified “minority” candidates were ever overlooked. My students are also partly unacceptable precisely because they are my students. I am academic persona non grata, because of my unacceptable philosophical positions. And this isn’t just some inconvenience. These facts rendered my job morally untenable. How can I accept prospective researchers and train them in good conscience knowing their employment prospects to be minimal?
