ELECTIONS ARE COMING: FLORIDA DISTRICT 20 NOVEMBER 2, 2021

Muslim Congressional Candidate Feels ‘Extremely Blessed’ to Visit Terror-Linked Mosques Barbara Sharief has troubling Islamic credentials — and a good shot at a Congressional seat. Joe Kaufman

On September 12th, Emgage, a politically-active Islamist group, held a candidate forum for the special election to replace US Representative Alcee Hastings (Florida District 20), who recently passed away. 7 of the 17 candidates who qualified to run showed up for it, each trying to outdo the others’ verbal affection for the Muslim community, boasting about what mosques they have frequented. One candidate in particular, though, Barbara Sharief, flashed overwhelming – and troubling – Islamic credentials, mentioning how she grew up in the Muslim community, how she worked with the radical Muslim Students Association, and how she visited “all” the mosques.

During the introductions for the forum, Sharief, currently a Broward County Commissioner, stated about her background, “My father and my mother were a member of Masjid Al-Ansar, in Miami. I attended the Sister Clara Muhammad elementary school.” The Clara Muhammad School was founded by the Nation of Islam (NOI), the black separatist group that is today headed by rabid anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan. Masjid Al-Ansar (MAA) is the mosque where the school was and still is housed. According to the South Florida Times, Sharief gives “credit for her success in part… to the Clara Mohammed School system.”

The candidates were asked by forum moderator Emgage Florida Executive Director Ancel Pratt III to discuss their “level of engagement” with the Muslim community. Sharief stated, in part, “I’ve worked with the Muslim Student Association. I sponsored scholarships under my father’s name, the late James Muhammad Sharief. I’ve also sponsored community events and supported student activities… I am currently working with Sister Ghany and others within the South Florida Muslim Association to get Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr recognized as holidays off in the Broward County school system.”

The Muslim Students Association or MSA was established by members of the fanatic Muslim Brotherhood, at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, in January 1963. With several chapters nationwide, the group has attracted a number of future terrorists. They include al-Qaeda operative and Pakistani neuroscientist Aafia Siddiqui, who was convicted of attempting to murder US military officers; Syed Maaz Shah, a Dallas college student from Pakistan who was convicted of illegally obtaining a firearm in a plot to join the Taliban to fight US troops overseas; and former Tampa professor and Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader Sami al-Arian.

Naima Khan-Ghany or “Sister Ghany” is the Advisor to Broward County’s MSAs. She is, as well, on the board of US and Pakistan-based Friends of Humanity International Inc (FHII). FHII is the brainchild of Mohammed Javed Quereshi, the man who introduced Islam to convicted al-Qaeda operative Jose Padilla, who plotted to set off a radiological bomb inside the US. Sharief has also been involved with FHII, and she has worked with Khan-Ghany on proclamations for the Muslim community, one of which she presented to Khan-Ghany and the MSA, in April, for ‘Muslim Heritage Month.’ Sharief promoted Khan-Ghany’s endorsement of her on her campaign website.

At the candidate forum, Sharief further stated, “I have just been extremely blessed to be able to visit all mosques within Broward and Palm Beach County.” One of these mosques was the Pembroke Pines-based Darul Uloom Institute, a past haven for al-Qaeda operatives, including Padilla, who was a student at the mosque. Speaking with Sharief, this past July, in front of the congregation, was Darul Uloom’s founder and imam, Shafayat Mohamed. Mohamed has been thrown off a number of county boards for his fiery rhetoric against homosexuals, including blaming gay sex for the 2004 Indonesian tsunami.

Another mosque Sharief spoke at was the Islamic Center of Boca Raton (ICBR). In August, facing the audience, along with her, was ICBR co-founder and former assistant to Sami al-Arian, Bassem Alhalabi. In June 2003, Alhalabi was charged by the US Commerce Department with illegally shipping a $13,000 thermal imaging device to Syria. At the ICBR event, Sharief was photographed with Abdul Rauf Khan, a leader of the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), an Islamist group tied to South Asian terror. Khan, who has taken numerous photos at events with Sharief, is an avid fan of Louis Farakhan and has used social media to target Jews and gays.

Because of the overwhelming Democratic vote in Florida’s 20th Congressional District, the special election to see who will succeed Representative Hastings will most likely be decided at the close of the November 2nd Democratic Primary. The general election is set to take place on January 11, 2022.

Polling from the website Florida Politics had Sharief at 6%, in April, and in second place at 14%, in July. In first was fellow Broward County Commissioner Dale Holness with just three percentage points higher, though this poll occurred prior to his commission colleagues’ public criticism of him and prior to a scandal involving Holness’ daughter, Damara, who allegedly defrauded the US government of more than $300,000, in 2020, using the same address as her father’s real estate business.

That said, it appears Barbara Muhammad Sharief, a friend to radical Islamic causes and mosques, has a good chance of becoming a US Representative, in 2022. This should alarm everyone.
