The Conservative Purge Isn’t Over, It’s Just Getting Cranked Up

Not quite two weeks ago we noted that Big Tech was settling the family business with its suspensions, bans, and deletions of then-President Donald Trump and as many of his supporters as it could pull into its dragnet. It was only a start. The left wants to wipe the right from the political map as quickly and effectively as possible.

Playing the role this week of Michael Corleone, who in the first of “The Godfather” installments eliminated his families’ enemies, is the Democratic Party. Congressional Democrats are going forward, with the blessing of the new president, whose plea for unity is clearly a sham, with a domestic terrorism bill in both chambers of Congress.

The public is being told the legislation is needed to thwart “the potential threat of more terrorist attacks in Washington and around the country,” says Rep. Brad Schneider, an Illinois Democrat and co-sponsor of the House version. Among other co-sponsors is Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., who in July denied that Antifa, which was wrecking Portland at the time, even existed.

One lone Democrat stands out among this jihad, and, unfortunately, she’s no longer in Congress. Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii told Fox News on Friday that should the bill become law, it would undermine “our civil liberties, our freedoms in our Constitution,” while “targeting of almost half of the country.” That half being a collection of Trump supporters, conservatives, Christians, and anyone who refuses to go along with the Democrats’ legislative agenda, surrender to Black Lives Matter intimidation, and yield to the dominant narrative.

Gabbard pointed out that former CIA Director John Brennan has openly talked “about how he’s spoken with or heard from appointees and nominees in the Biden administration who are already starting to look across our country for these types of movements similar to the insurgencies they’ve seen overseas, that in his words, he says make up this unholy alliance of religious extremists, racists, bigots, he lists a few others and at the end, even libertarians.”

The hunted, she said, are likely to be white, male, “anyone who loves freedom, liberty, maybe has an American flag outside their house, or people who, you know, attended a Trump rally.”

The Washington Post reported over the weekend that the Biden White House has “tasked the director of national intelligence, in coordination with the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, with compiling a comprehensive threat assessment on violent domestic extremism.”

If this were an effort to root out the few authentic domestic terrorists no matter what their political alignment, from the dwindling number of real white supremacists to the Democrats’ Antifa street soldiers, we could get behind it. But everyone knows what few are saying: The party in power has sold out to eliminating the party out of power.

To better frame the right as a domestic threat, the White House has been gaslighting the country with assertions that the invasion of the U.S. Capitol was an act of terrorism that reflects the violent tendencies of conservatives and Republicans, while the summer riots were mild disruptions in comparison.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., has hysterically claimed she thought she “was going to die” when the Capitol was breached, an event she called “pretty traumatizing.” California Democrat Adam Schiff, chair of the House Intelligence Committee, said it was “critical” the administration focus on the threat of domestic terrorism from, “in particular,” the “far right” and “white supremacist” groups, because they have “become one of the most dangerous threats to our nation.”

They know none of their claims are true, but will keep repeating them to perpetuate the narrative that Trump, his 74 million voters, and all those who won’t denounce him are insurrectionists who have to be put down.

Democratic operatives outside the official party hierarchy are marching in step. Alex Stamos, former Facebook chief security officer and a Stanford adjunct professor, said last week on CNN that “we have to turn down the capability of these conservative influencers to reach these huge audiences,” especially on “the Facebooks and YouTubes.”

Meanwhile, veteran “journalist” Katie Couric says “the question is how are we going to really almost deprogram these people who have signed up for the cult of Trump,” and ABC political director Rick Klein insisted there needs to be a “cleansing” of the Trump movement, which is “straight-up fascist rhetoric.”

Just as Gabbard publicly criticized her party’s agenda, a few journalists are willing to buck the political environment and challenge Democrats’ attempt to cancel the right.

When CNN said the Capitol incursion was an example of domestic terrorism, independent left-leaning journalist Michael Tracey courageously called it “propaganda deliberately intended to stoke over-reaction and hysteria.” Glenn Greenwald, also an independent left-leaning journalist, said the “real aim” of the “new domestic war on terror” is “to criminalize that which should not be criminalized: speech, association, protests, opposition to the new ruling coalition.”

Does this remind anyone of the American ideals of pluralism, freedom of thought, and dissent? No, it far better describes what happens in other nations when authoritarians seize political power.
