Soros, the NYT, and anti-Israel propaganda. By Rachel Ehrenfeld

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2019/01/soros_the_nyt_and_antiisrael_propaganda.html

Using the pretext of commemorating Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the New York Times Sunday Review published what Alan Dershowitz fittingly described as, “one of the most biased, one-sided, historically inaccurate, ignorant and bigoted articles ever published by that venerable newspaper.” The article, “Time to Break the Silence on Palestine”, is an unhinged anti-Israel, anti-Semitic, pro-Palestinian rant. The newspaper and the article were aptly criticized by Ruth King in the American Thinker, and by Ira Stoll in the Algemeiner.

However, vitriolic smears against Israel are nothing new to the NYT. What is new about this slanted article is that it shows how George Soros’s propaganda machine works.

The essay’s author Michelle Alexander served as “a Soros Justice Fellow” in 2005. She was among of first recipients of the Soros Justice program, with a stipend of $35,000 to $97,000, “to complete a book called The New Jim Crow… about the so-called war on drugs and mass incarceration as the defining racial justice issues of our time.”

Since then, Alexander has been affiliated with numerous Soros-funded organizations, such as The Ella Baker Center for Hunan Rights, which promote “color Justice”, “nationally organize and coordinate demonstrations for illegal-alien amnesty and manage voter-registration campaigns for Democratic candidates.”

Right from wrong: The lost-cause campaign to challenge PM The results of the Army Radio poll are anything but Earth-shattering. By Ruthie Blum

https://www.jpost.com/Opinion/Right-from-wrong-The-lost-cause-campaign-to-challenge-PM-578612

According to an Army Radio poll released Tuesday, the Likud Party will lose four Knesset seats if Attorney- General Avichai Mandelblit decides next month to indict Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for bribery. As is characteristic of most such surveys, this one is not only unreliable; it belies its political motivation.

To achieve Army Radio’s desired outcome that Netanyahu’s popularity is in peril, the pollsters – in this case, the Midgam and iPanel research companies – posed two questions to respondents. The first was straightforward, asking, “Which party would you vote for if elections were held today?” The second was, “If Mandelblit decides to indict Netanyahu before the elections, which party will you vote for [on April 9]?” The results indicated a discrepancy in the number of seats that would be won – pending an indictment – by five of the 14 parties running. Likud, according to the poll, would be reduced from 29 mandates to 25; Israel Resilience would increase its mandates from 13 to 14; ditto for Yesh Atid; and both Kulanu and Yisrael Beytenu would each gain six seats, as opposed to five. The other nine parties purportedly would not be affected.

Aside from being mind-numbingly boring – as it shows that Netanyahu and his party are still way ahead of their rivals – the poll reveals something interesting about the agenda behind it.
With the Left in shambles – and intent on seeing Netanyahu sent to jail – the rest of the “anybody but Bibi” camp has been grasping at straws in order to present an electoral alternative to the long-standing Likud-led government.
Disgruntled former Likud politicians, retired IDF generals and other bubble-dwellers vying for a place at the table, are desperate to come up with a formula that will guarantee their own aggrandizement at Netanyahu’s expense.
The only magic potion they have managed to conjure up, however, is one that has been tried repeatedly in the past and failed: aiming for the so-called “center.”

The Weird Sisters of Congress Edward Cline

The second witch chants :By the pricking of my thumbs, Something wicked this way comes. (Macbeth, Act One, Scene One)

Wikipedia writes:

The Three Witches, also known as the Weird Sisters …are characters in William Shakespeare’s play Macbeth (c. 1603–1607). They hold a striking resemblance to the three Fates of classical mythology, and are, perhaps, intended as a twisted version of the white-robed incarnations of destiny. The witches eventually lead Macbeth to his demise.

Hecate, the Greek goddess of witch craft, is the sponsor or “role model” for the weird sisters. Nancy Pelosi is her 21st century embodiment. What goes on the House of Representatives:

Fair is foul, and foul is fair;
Hover through the fog and filthy air. (Act One, Scene One.

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble. (Act One, Scene One)

Substitute cauldron with MSM.

The first weird sister, an unrepentant Muslim and “Palestinian”, is the most vociferous and foul-mouthed of the new representatives in the House:

Rashida Harbi Tlaib Is the loudest dog whistler, together with IIlan Omar (D-Mich), and chief spokeswoman for anti-Semitism. She is rapidly anti-Israel. On Thursday vowed to take on President Trump hours after she was sworn in to office, saying before a crowd of supporters, “We’re going to go in and impeach the mothef—er.” The comments from Tlaib came hours after she was sworn in to Congress and on the same day she had an op-ed published in the Detroit Free Press calling for Trump’s impeachment.

Ilhan Omar (D-Minnesota) The hijab-wearing Representative owns an unbridgled record of anti-Semitism.

Commentary remarked:

Freshman Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar trades in a primitive brand of anti-Semitism that’s almost unknown in this country, let alone in Congress. To recap, in 2012, she tweeted, “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.” Only last week, the Somali-born Omar defended her tweet during a CNN interview. That’s six years of remorseless bigotry.

Cuba Out of Venezuela Friends of democracy need to target Havana’s control in Caracas.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/cuba-out-of-venezuela-11548376414

International support for a return to democracy in Venezuela has been growing since Juan Guaidó took the oath of interim president on Wednesday. The crucial but underreported question now is whether dictator Nicolás Maduro’s protectors in Cuba and Russia will intervene to stop this democratic uprising.

The Venezuelan military holds the key to whether Mr. Maduro will step down peacefully. Common sense and reporting in the country suggest that a good part of the army is ready to side with the Venezuelan people. The rank and file have families who are also suffering the privation caused by nearly two decades of socialist rule.

Yet Cuba controls Mr. Maduro’s personal security detail and has built a counterintelligence network around the high command. Venezuela’s 1,000 or so flag officers operate in silos and are spied on by minders. An officer who sides with the opposition is putting his life and perhaps his family at risk. The head of the armed forces expressed support for Mr. Maduro on Thursday, but the real test may come if soldiers are ordered to fire on protesters or Venezuelans trying to protect Mr. Guaidó.

Nations that want better for Venezuela should focus as much on Havana as Caracas. If civilized countries want to end the starvation and mass migration of Venezuelans, they have to convince the Cuban regime to back off. That means targeting Havana with diplomatic pressure, as well as sanctions such as travel restrictions and frozen bank accounts.
