Jeb Bush wants you to know that he is the ultimate multitasker!  He says that he can love his Mexican-born wife, Columba, and control the Mexican border at the same time!  I remember how President Clinton “compartmentalized” himself so that while the upper half of him handled affairs of state, the lower half handled affairs with Monica Lewinsky.  So I suppose this is possible.

“You can love the Mexican culture, you can love your Mexican-American wife and also believe that we need to control the border,” Bush told the crowd. “This is a bizarre kind of idea that somehow you can have an affection for people in a different country and not think the rule of law should apply.”

Jeb supports the rule of law?  He’s got my vote!

He added that he would push to deploy “forward-leaning border control agents” closer to the actual border; use new technologies, including drones, to monitor border traffic …

This is great!  Jeb plans to monitor the flow of illegal aliens!

… and fix the E-Verify system and stop providing law enforcement funding to “sanctuary cities” that refuse to work with federal agencies to deport illegal immigrants.

All great moves!

As for the nation’s illegal immigrants, Bush said “I honestly think we need to provide a path to legalize status, not citizenship.”

What? Didn’t he just say the rule of law should apply?  Let’s go back:

Bush told the crowd. “This is a bizarre kind of idea that somehow you can have an affection for people in a different country and not think the rule of law should apply.

How is the rule of law being applied when you arbitrarily legalize those who have violated the law?  That’s like saying the rule of law applies after someone who robs a bank is pardoned.  Bush’s idea of “rule of law” is to legalize the illegality of illegal aliens.

What is the sense of “forward leaning” border agents, and drones, and E-Verify, if all the people coming across the border will be legalized?  It becomes meaningless.

Bush says he supports a legalized status, not citizenship, but how long do you think it will be before some judicial or executive fiat turns them into citizens?  Bush is being naive or duplicitous here.  Given how smart he is supposed to be, I think he is being deceitful about his intentions.

Bush fell in love with a Mexican woman, and he supports policies that will benefit millions of Mexicans at the expense of Americans.  He feels as though people are questioning his loyalties.  I don’t know about his loyalties (although I think it weird that he considers himself Hispanic), but I do question his judgment.

Immigration is supposed to serve America, but Jeb seems to think that America should serve immigrants, or, to be more precise, illegal aliens.  He seems to feel that millions of unskilled, dirt-poor illegal aliens will be a shot in the arm to the economy and is offended by the suggestion that many are on welfare and commit crimes.

May I suggest, in turn, that I am offended by Jeb Bush and his disingenuousness?
