IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF PRIVATE FIRST CLASS HAROLD H. KING, AMERICAN SOLDIER NO. 32922362,

WHO DIED IN THE SERVICE OF HIS COUNTRY IN THE EUROPEAN AREA, JULY 10,1944.

HE STANDS IN THE UNBROKEN LINE OF PATRIOTS WHO HAVE DARED TO DIE THAT FREEDOM MIGHT LIVE, AND GROW, AND INCREASE ITS BLESSINGS. FREEDOM LIVES AND THROUGH IT HE LIVES- IN A WAY THAT HUMBLES THE UNDERTAKINGS OF MOST MEN.

Harold “Heshy” died of wounds received on June6th, 1944 in the Normandy Invasion. His older brother George “Gershy” King died immediately that day emerging from an LST. George was an M.P. but asked to be sent to combat, and Harold volunteered but was deferred due to a medical condition for which he elected surgery and was deployed.

They are among those who have fought in all America’s Wars- from independence to Iraq and Afghanistan.

In the words of heroic Hannah Senesh, who died by a Nazi firing squad on November 1944:

“Blessed is the heart with strength to stop its beating for honor’s sake.”
