GIL RONEN: US CONGRESSMEN TOUR JUDEA AND SAMARIA (AKA WEST BANK) THE HEARTLAND OF JUDAISM

Congressmen with ‘Judeo-Christian Spirit’ Tour Heartland

In the face of genocidal Muslim fanaticism, leaders of the nations that have the Bible in common seek common political ground.
On November 9, five US Congressmen ventured into otherwise uncharted territory, at least by the standards of traditional diplomatic delegations to Israel. A strong affinity to Israel and genuine frustration with repeated fatal failures of “peace processes” drove these American leaders to take a fresh look at Israel’s heartland.

The tour is a manifestation of the “Judeo Christian” teamwork that has been growing deeper in recent years, as pioneering Jews in Judea and Samaria and Christian Zionist leaders in the US and elsewhere learn to trust each other. In the face of genocidal Muslim fanaticism, leaders of the nations that have the Bible in common are seeking common political ground as well.

The historic visit began with a bus tour led by Mayor Ron Nachman along the Trans-Samaria highway, where the delegates learned about Israel’s narrow waistline, security needs and strategic provisions. At the Ariel and Barkan Industrial Parks Mayor Nachman discussed co-existence, the 4,000 Arabs employed at the factories and the indiscriminate boycotts imposed by the Palestinian Authority (PA) and European Union on products from the factories. Mayor Nachman also showed the group the layout of the Ariel Bloc of communities, and the short distance from the Tel Aviv Coastal Plain.

NIDRA POLLER:AUTO DA FE IN PARIS…IT’S NO JOKE PART 2

http://www.newenglishreview.org/blog_direct_link.cfm/blog_id/38979 NB: “Ch” is pronounced “sh” in French, which is how “Sharlie Hebdo becomes Sharia Hebdo.] Over a hundred rockets were fired from Gaza in the space of a few days, aimed at civilian targets, reaching deep into Israel, licking at the road to Tel Aviv when France, in a shocking about-face, voted in favor […]

PROFESSOR HAIM HARARI: A VIEW OF THE ARAB SPRING TOWARDS THE FOLLOWING SUMMER*****

A View from the Arab Spring, towards the Following Summer

Prof. Haim Harari, former President of The Weizmann Institute of Science, professor of high energy physics, is currently the Chairman of the Board of the Davidson Institute of Science Education at Israel’s Weizmann Institute
of Science.
The Weizmann Institute International Policy Forum, November 01, 2011
The phrase “Arab Spring” is a surprisingly appropriate description of current events in the
Arab world. It relates not only to the awakening of anger and to the desire for change by the
Arab masses, but also to the lack of understanding of the circumstances, by most European
and American observers. Winter in New York, London or Berlin is often accompanied by a
mild depression. It is a period when nothing blooms, very little remains green, sunshine is
rare and most birds are gone. And then comes the spring, when everything begins to blossom,
warmth returns, birds are chirping and life restarts. Alas, in most of the Arab world, winter is
a pleasant period relative to what comes next. The winter temperature is quite comfortable
and the sun often shines. When spring arrives, the heat returns, heralding an unbearable
summer, without one drop of water and a harsh and dry brown-yellow land. The little that
was partly green, during the winter, is gone. Indeed, “The Arab Spring” inevitably leads to a
difficult and unpleasant summer. The metaphor reflects not only what it purports to describe,
but also the mentality gap between its Western authors and the real situation.

PAUL RYAN: “OUR CHURCHILLIAN MOMENT” SPEECH TO THE CLAREMONT INSTITUTE NOVEMBER 12 *****

“Our Churchillian Moment” by Paul Ryan, Chairman on the House of Representatives Committee on the Budget.
I feel honored tonight for a special reason. Twenty-one years ago my mentor, the late Jack Kemp, was given the very first of these awards. And he loved receiving it. He loved to quote “Sir Winston,” along with his other political heroes, Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson.

He admired these men because of their dedication to the power of ideas – especially the idea that human freedom and equality of opportunity were the greatest forces for good the world has ever known.

Twenty-one years ago – receiving this very honor – Jack spoke of Churchill’s attachment to the Declaration of Independence – especially its moral defense of the ideas he loved.

People jokingly called Jack a bleeding-heart conservative, but he was effective precisely because he insisted on making the moral, humanitarian case for the economics of freedom.

IN ISRAEL TODAY:WAGING THE WAR AGAINST CANCER *****

http://unitedwithisrael.org/israel-develops-cancer-vaccine/

Vaxil’s groundbreaking therapeutic vaccine, developed in Israel, could keep about 90 percent of cancers from coming back.

As the world’s population lives longer than ever, if we don’t succumb to heart disease, strokes or accidents, it is more likely that cancer will get us one way or another. Cancer is tough to fight, as the body learns how to outsmart medical approaches that often kill normal cells while targeting the malignant ones.

Hadassah HospitalIn a breakthrough development, the Israeli company Vaxil BioTherapeutics has formulated a therapeutic cancer vaccine, now in clinical trials at Hadassah University Medical Center in Jerusalem. If all goes well, the vaccine could be available about six years down the road, to administer on a regular basis not only to help treat cancer but in order to keep the disease from recurring.

The vaccine is being tested against a type of blood cancer called multiple myeloma. If the substance works as hoped — and it looks like all arrows are pointing that way — its platform technology VaxHit could be applied to 90 percent of all known cancers, including prostate and breast cancer, solid and non-solid tumors.

AMIL IMANI: ISLAM WAS NOT FOR ME

http://amilimani.com/2011/11/islam-was-not-for-me/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=islam-was-not-for-me My breach with Islam started as far back as I could discern things. More to the point, I never embraced Islam in the first place, although I was born and raised in a Muslim family. For one thing, I had a very difficult time following a so-called religion whose founder and followers had butchered […]

ISRAEL AND ACADEMIC FREEDOM: ASAF ROMIROWSKY & SAMUEL EDELMAN

http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/11/israel_and_academic_freedom.html

Cary Nelson, president of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP), one of the most prominent organizations supporting college and university professors, has forcefully and inappropriately spoken out in support of uncivil discourse. In an ironic twist, this development stands in stark contradiction to what organizations such as the American Association of Universities have stated:

In order to fulfill their responsibilities to academic freedom and intellectual development, universities must provide a forum in which individuals and groups can advocate their views, the Association of American Universities wrote in January. In a statement on the “responsibility of universities at a time of international tension and domestic protest,” the organization of research universities said that such institutions must ensure an environment for civil discourse that is free of violence and intimidation; protect the rights of all members of campus communities to pursue learning, teaching, scholarship, and research; and actively promote informed dialogue and analytical thought.

Recently, we witnessed an incident at Kent State University of uncivil discourse in which Professor Julio Pino made an outburst against Israeli Bedouin diplomat Ishmael Khaldi, shouting “death to Israel.” Consequently, Nelson, on behalf of the AAUP, stated:

Calling out a political slogan during a question period falls well within the speech rights of any member of a university community[.] Expressive outbursts do not substitute for rational analysis, but they have long played a role in our national political life. More surprising, to be sure, is President Lefton’s invention of an absurd form of hospitality: you must not question the moral legitimacy or the right to exist of a guest’s home country. Awareness of history would suggest such challenges are routine elements of international life.

DANIEL GREENFIELD: THE DEVIL’S SMILE

http://sultanknish.blogspot.com/

Sprightly Ahmadinejad tours nuclear facilities, having stolen an election he marches on as his police batter and protesters. And everywhere he goes, he smiles his trademark loopy smile. The smile of a psychopath or a saint.

Why is Ahmadinejad smiling? The answer is not a terribly complicated one. With every step he takes and every day that he remains in power, he discredits the most deeply held ideas of Western liberals about the power of diplomacy to resolve conflicts and internal civil disobedience to achieve peaceful regime change. Despite years of diplomatic and hundreds of thousands of protesters taking to the streets– Ahmadinejad’s grip on power remains as secure as ever.

Walking over the bodies of student protesters, of political dissidents, of the thousands killed by the wars he has touched off, he continues to taunt the rest of the world to do anything about it. And the rest of the world has done nothing except talk. And as Ahmadinejad has demonstrated, talk counts for nothing at all.
