Is this the sexiest political ad campaign ever? Putin’s model army strikes again with raunchy video to get Russians voting

They’ve washed cars in skimpy outfits and torn their clothes off – all to promote the hardman of Russian politics, Vladimir Putin.

Now his model army has launched its latest charm offensive – with a steamy new advert, set to techno house music, encouraging people to go to the polls for the Russian parliamentary election on December 4.

In United Russia Party’s latest offering, a stunning young woman, in a short dress, is seen walking into a polling station.

As she is being handed her ballot paper, a young man walks up alongside, where he checks her out. She walks off towards the voting booth and closes the curtain, but quickly whips it open to pull her suitor inside.

The camera looks at the gap between the curtain and the floor, to where their clothes fall – at which point the slogan ‘Let’s Do It Together’ appears on the screen.

They emerge soon after, with the woman grinning and fixing her hair. The duo place their votes into the ballot box, and walk out hand in hand.

United Russia Party, whose popularity is hurtling towards record lows, produced the advert to try to win back votes from web-savvy youth.

Tease: At first she enters the booth alone, but soon opens up the curtain to pull him in, when the camera pans down to see the pair's shoesTease: At first she enters the booth alone, but soon opens up the curtain to pull him in, when the camera pans down to see the pair’s shoes

Naughty: The station managers look on disapprovingly (left) before the pair re-emerge, looking slightly tousled (right), from the booth

But it has provoked anger – and not just for its sexual content – because in Russia, like most countries, voting must be carried out in private.

Gennady Gudkov, an influential Duma deputy, said he would ask prosecutors and the country’s election commission to investigate the advert for violating the constitution.

He told the Izvestiya newspaper: ‘United Russia has forgotten that voting in Russia is meant to be secret.

‘According to the law, a person who drops their ballot in the box must be in the booth completely alone.’

In July a bevy of Russian beauties, calling themselves Putin’s Army, launched a competition called ‘I’ll tear [my clothes off] for Putin’.

A video, uploaded to the blog of parliamentarian Kirill Shchitov, showed blonde student Diana strutting along Moscow’s streets in high heels and a black suit.

She meets two equally attractive friends sunbathing by the riverbank. Pouting, they daub ‘I’ll tear for Putin’ onto skimpy T-shirts in red lipstick, with the video ending as one rips her top off.

They then ask other ‘young, smart and beautiful’ girls to ‘tear off something for Putin’ and post a video of it online.

In the same month, motorists were treated to a free car wash from campaigning female Moscow University students in skimpy tops and bikinis.
