JAN POLLER: A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CONCERNED AMERICAN

It was an extraordinary day on the stock market.

I watched the news at lunch time.  The market fell quickly about 370 points.  Then it climbed until the loss was down “only” 250 points.

I went and prepared dinner for friends. They  called around 3:30 when he was 5 minutes away.  In the five minutes it took him to get to the house, the market fell 70 points!  In the last 20 minutes it fell another 100 points!

The market has fallen over 10% in 10 days.

I caught part of Leon Panetta’s press conference where he damned the provisions in the Debt bill that allows the automatic reduction of military funding by $500 billion if the committee doesn’t cut the budget by $1.2 trillion.  This automatic cutting is exactly what Obama wants.  It cuts funding and he can blame it all on Congress and the Committee and since he did nothing, you can’t point a finger at him.

Like I said, Obama got just about everything he wanted.

What surprised me is the reaction of the world to it.  Part of the crash is because of the precarious condition of Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Ireland.  However, that has been known for a long time.

I think the reaction in the market is to the bill itself.  Like the transparent (joking here) Health Care bill, you have to pass the bill to see what is in it.  And people are seeing what is in it.

While all this is going on, the Messiah in the White House is taking a bus trip through the mid-west.  While he is visiting critical election states like Ohio, we can believe them when they tell us this is not a campaign trip because we, the taxpayers, are paying for it.

It is quite incredible that with everything happening in Syria, Iran verging on a nuclear capability with rockets able to hit the continental US from Iran (maybe) and Venezuela (definitely), with the market crashing, with an ongoing debt crisis, with the lack of jobs and over a year to go before the election he is out campaigning.

Does he not realize that if he doesn’t make things better he can’t win regardless of the money he has?

I must add that a caller to the Chris Plante show talked about Obama’s attack on corporate jet owners after encouraging them to buy corporate jets in the stimulus bill.  Obama had a fund-raising birthday party.  Dinner was $34,800 and a picture with the president was $10,000.  So the caller asked how many dinner goers flew in on their corporate/private jets and did Obama care?
