“From everything I’ve been able to see and learn I don’t believe this was random. I believe everyone who lives here and has to come here is safe and can do so safely. Our focus is on this garage, this apartment solely.”

The neighbors

“She wanted to talk to me and she talked about herself. About her school, how the girls were teasing her. They were making fun of her and I felt so bad about it,” Leyla Aliyeva said. “I feel so bad because she was a nice girl. She was sweet. And it seems like she’s alone. Seems like she doesn’t have anyone to talk to, you know?”

“I’m a little concerned because I have children of my own. I’m just thanking god that nothing severely happened to myself. I continue to pray for her. But it’s very troubling to think something happened out here,” neighbor Demina Stewart said.

Deputies say Samina Qasim was stabbed multiple times in the upper chest and neck area. She is currently in critical condition at Strong Hospital.
