Conference to offer alternative to 2-state solution Jerusalem event first step in bid to promote Judea and Samaria sovereignty, organizer says

A mini-conference next week on the subject of Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria is the first step in an effort to present an alternative to the two-state solution, event organizers told Ynetnews Thursday.

The event, titled “The Preferred Option: Israeli Sovereignty over Judea and Samaria,” will be held at the OU-Israel Center in Jerusalem on Monday night, June 20th at 7:30 pm.

The speakers for the evening will be Yoram Ettinger (Ambassador – ret.), Dani Dayan (Chairman, Yesha Council), Dr. Mordechai Kedar (Bar Ilan University) and Caroline Glick (Jerusalem Post.)

“The purpose of the evening is to break the ice and start a process, namely the active promotion of Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria as the eventual alternative to the two-state solution,” said event organizer Yoel Meltzer.

‘Real viable option’

Organizers are hoping that by bringing together four well-known public figures for one evening, other likeminded individuals – whether from the academic world, the media, the business sector, the security establishment, the legal establishment or the political echelon – will be attracted to the initiative and participate in future speaking engagements.

Addressing his hopes for the initiative’s future, Meltzer said he was aiming to “create a serious discussion of the topic on a national level, one that will explore the complex issues and identify possible solutions.”

“Equally important, the process will bring the idea of Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria towards the mainstream and make it into a real viable option,” he said.
