“I’m Chris Salvino. I’m a surgeon, a retired Lieutenant Colonel, a father and until a few days ago or even a few minutes ago somebody you probably never heard of.

That’s because I am not a politician. I have never been involved in politics before.

But like you I am sick and tired of the lies politicians tell. Obama’s plan to nationalize everything; the open borders apologists, the tax and spenders, frankly I couldn’t take it anymore.

So I asked my wife what she thought about a regular guy like me trying to change this country, and ya know what, she was just as mad as me, so together we decided I should try and run for office.

It’s a big decision to make, an incredibly tough job, and an even tougher interview process.

My first job was at 12 years old back in Chicago. I started an asphalt company and no I am not kidding. Public works back then isn’t what we have today. One of my fondest memories of childhood was each summer when the tractor trailer would show up at my parent’s house to deliver the load so my friends and I could get to work paving drive ways. It wasn’t the normal venture for a 12 year old, but I have never done things the normal way.

I am pro-life and a Catholic, and used my earnings paving roads to go to the University of Notre Dame. I went on to medical school, met the love of my life Sue, married her and together began a family.

We were living the American dream, and then Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait.

I was young, naïve, and wanted to help my country. So I went down to the recruiter’s office to join up. My wife was not so thrilled with the idea. But I had an inner feeling that called me to serve. By the time I went through Officer Candidate School the War in Iraq was over, but it was what motivated me to serve, and I eventually did and retired as a Lt. Colonel.

I have also been a businessman, I operated several surgical centers across the country. And to be honest they weren’t all successful. In many regards I think it helps me today to understand what so many Americans are going through. It makes me more compassionate for my countrymen.

I have been working as a trauma surgeon, happily enjoying watching my kids growing up, flying airplanes in my spare time and then another national travesty awoke my inner patriotism.

Last summer I watched as Barack Obama, and people like Harry Mitchell sold our country down the river. The more my blood boiled the more I came to believe it was my duty as a citizen of this great country to take action.

And that is why I stand before you today. I need your help, our great country needs your help, and if we work together I know we can get the job done.

My political philosophy is a simple one, we need a citizen legislature, not one controlled by career politicians like Harry Mitchell. You probably didn’t realize it but Mitchell has been a politician for 40 years. He typifies all that is wrong with this great country.

The Democrat plan to nationalize health care is an outrage. They want to cut half a trillion from our seniors, put unfunded mandates on the states and then drive the greatest health care system in the world into a Canadian style program. Socialism run amok. What we really need is to get costs under control through sound market principles. I will be releasing my HELP plan for America soon and would encourage all of you to read and get behind it.

As an ER surgeon, I see the violence that illegal immigration has brought to our country. I am on the front lines every day dealing with gunshots, and car accident victims that are a direct result of our government’s inability to control our border. Let me be absolutely clear, we need a wall from sea to shining sea, and Ms. Napolitano’s assertion that illegal’s will just use a taller ladder is preposterous. This is from the same person who said that the system worked when the Christmas bomber struck, she is clueless, a national disgrace, she is chief of border security and she needs to be fired.

Of course Obama and Mitchell wouldn’t dare. That’s because they think everything is okay down south. They’re wrong. I’ve been to the border, right now the only thing you need to cross is a pair of shoes. That’s wrong. And it will be one of my top priorities in Congress to fix it.

On taxes and the economy it is real simple. We need to start creating jobs. The way to do it is not by raising taxes, taking over huge segments of the economy or by incurring multi-trillion dollar debts. No. The way you do it is by having sound monetary policy, get the banks’ lending again and pull up your boot straps. It won’t be easy, but we have to at least start the process.

I will do everything in my power to restore the ideals and beliefs that have made this country great. I humbly ask for your support so that together we may make this country great again.
