The Palestinians – the supposedly less radical ones no less – have named a public square after a terrorist who killed nearly 40 people about 30 years ago.

The Palestinian argument is that it’s OK to glorify a murderer because there was no partial peace deal with Israel at the time.

What crap.

It illustrates yet again how morally bankrupt that bunch is.

The Associated Press reported that Israeli officials complained to the United States over the issue, which they say amounts to incitement to anti-Semitic violence, which, of course, it does.

Evidently, a square in the West Bank city of Ramallah was named – complete with elaborate ceremony – after Dalal Mughrabi, one of the hijackers of an Israeli bus in 1978, in which 38 Israelis were killed, the story notes. A spokesperson for the Palestinian security forces that conducted the ceremony said Mughrabi was a Palestinian hero, and that “civilians were killed on both sides.”

This dredges up once again the tired moral equivalency fallacy between unintentional civilian casualties and intentionally targeted civilians.

Though the civilians wind up dead in either case, intent is everything where morality is concerned.

The official also complained about visits by Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad to the families of three militants killed by Israeli forces in a raid last week, according to the story. Israeli officials evidently said the dead, whom Fayyad called “martyrs,” were behind a West Bank shooting attack that killed a rabbi.

What gets me, is this is the first I’ve heard of this attack, and I pretty carefully and regularly scan the news wires for this type of thing. I’m pretty sure had some Israelis shot an Imam, even by accident, I’d have read about it in the mainstream press. In fact, I’m reasonably certain there would have been nearly instantaneous, spontaneous worldwide protests and loud, angry calls for the destruction of the “Zionist entity.”

A rabbi is murdered by terrorists – and nothing.

An adviser to Israel’s prime minister, said, “We expect the Palestinian Authority to prepare the Palestinian people to live in peace with Israel and not to glorify killers.”

Too late.

The Palestinians (and way too much of the entire Arab/Muslim world) have so completely poisoned their people’s minds that very little hope exists for recovery. They have so completely perverted reality, morality and common sense that in their world murder is martyrdom, evil is good and death is life.
