EXPLICIT SEX IN THE CLASSROOM? ASK THE “SAFE SCHOOLS” CZAR

Exclusive: Sexually Explicit Books in the Classroom? Ask the ‘Safe Schools’ Czar
The Editors

Late last week, Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit helped break the news that Kevin Jennings, the Safe Schools czar, is promoting sexually explicit books for classroom use. Scott Baker, co-founder of Breitbart.tv and co-host of the B-Cast, reports:

GLSEN’s stated mission is to empower gay youth in the schools and to stop harassment by other students. It encourages the formation of Gay Student Alliances and condemns the use of hateful words. GLSEN also strives to influence the educational curriculum to include materials which the group believes will increase tolerance of gay students and decrease bullying. To that end, GLSEN maintains a recommended reading list of books that it claims “furthers our mission to ensure safe schools for all students.” In other words, these are the books that GLSEN’s directors think all kids should be reading: gay kids should read them to raise their self-esteem, and straight kids should read them in order to become more aware and tolerant and stop bullying gay kids. Through GLSEN’s online ordering system, called “GLSEN BookLink,” featured prominently on their Web site, teachers can buy the books to use as required classroom assignments, or students can buy them to read on their own.

What kinds of books do they recommend? According to Baker, every single title they read, from the random selections out of a group of 100 books for children grades 7-12, had not only pornographic and X-rated anecdotes and stories, but explicit descriptions of sexual acts between young children, as well as stories that seemed to promote child-adult sexual relationships, tales of public sex – and more. Much more than we care to reprint here.

Is this about being gay vs. straight? No. As Baker says, “The point proven here is that the GLSEN reading list promotes the sexualization of children in general, regardless of the ‘orientation.’”

Nor is this about censorship. It’s about what’s appropriate for children in the classroom.

After breaking this shocking report, Gateway Pundit came under not just one, but two cyber attacks that ended up shutting down the entire First Things website, which hosts Gateway Pundit. Coincidence? Possible, but somewhat difficult to believe.

In an open letter to President Obama at Catholic Online, Jennifer Hartline says:

I read through as much as I could stand of Jennings’ list of “safe reading” for our school children beginning in kindergarten all the way through 12th grade. I saw some of the illustrations in these recommended books and I was glad I had an empty stomach. What I read and saw was revolting and pornographic. This filth is what your czar wants our children to read in order to foster understanding, tolerance, and create a safe environment for learning? This putrid smut has one purpose only and that is to break down a child’s moral center and make them slaves to selfish, destructive, immoral, and even deadly sexual behavior.

And Candace de Russy, whose work has been featured here at FSM as well as at National Review, says, “The president must fire [Jennings} immediately and apologize to the nation for letting him near our schools.”

We would be curious to know if books like the ones in Baker’s report at Gateway Pundit are available at Sidwell Friends, where the Obama girls attend school. According to Time magazine, it makes sense that they’d go there “because of how Quakers view the challenge of shaping children into socially responsible and spiritually aware adults.” So an educated guess would be “no.”

During the campaign, Obama was accused of wanting to introduce sex education to kindergartners, something his campaign denied. Yet while he was in the Illinois State Senate, he did vote in favor of such education where “Each class or course in comprehensive sex education offered in any of grades K – 6 and through 12 shall include instruction on the prevention of sexually transmitted infections, including the prevention, transmission and spread of HIV AIDS.” More here.

Is Obama in favor of sexually explicit books such as these being available in classrooms? The American people have a right to know.

Back to Jennings. In October, Troy Silva reported at the American Thinker that Jennings has no qualms in twisting facts and stretching the truth to advance his agenda:

Jennings boasted in a 1995 speech entitled “Winning the Culture War” that he “tilted” the 1990 Massachusetts report with use of the term “safe” in order to put opponents of pro-homosexual curriculum in that state “on the defensive”. His national template, used over and over in hundreds of districts and thousands of schools across the country, is to fabricate an epidemic of bullying and violence to homosexuals in schools, in part by citing bogus census or other statistics where classes of people are conflated to come-up with artificially high numbers of incidents of sexual-orientation-based “bullying”, “harassment” or violence.

Is it any surprise, then, that sexually explicit books aimed at our youth is next?

Americans were outraged when they discovered an avowed communist, Van Jones, held the position of Green Czar. What are they to make of a man whose goal is to sexualize our children?
