A Green Beret Doctor Runs for Texas Governor Retired Green Beret and whistleblower Dr. Pete Chambers—fierce critic of COVID mandates—is running for Texas governor to restore truth, freedom, and medical integrity. By William F. Marshall

What a breath of fresh air. Retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Pete Chambers is throwing his hat in the ring to seek the governorship of Texas.

Pete is a true patriot and has led a fascinating life. I got to know him years ago in the course of my work examining issues surrounding the COVID virus and COVID “vaccines.” During my professional research, I got to know many of the doctors who recognized very early on the great dangers posed by the experimental mRNA-based injections, which the federal government falsely touted as a “vaccine” for the COVID virus, despite the injections operating on completely different principles from traditional vaccines. Pete was one of those skeptical doctors.

Pete first joined the Army as an enlisted man in 1983. He then left the service with an honorable discharge to attend college and then medical school. He completed his residency in primary care and worked as an emergency room physician while also serving as a SWAT team physician and sheriff’s deputy. After the attacks of 9/11, Pete rejoined the Army and graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course.

Pete would be deployed to multiple combat zones as a Green Beret officer and Special Forces flight surgeon. He is the recipient of the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat, and is a disabled veteran.

Pete worked as a military liaison to Texas Governor Gregg Abbott’s COVID Task Force in his final two stateside deployments (in 2020) before becoming the Task Force Surgeon in 2021 assigned to Operation Lone Star on the South Texas border—a joint Texas military-law enforcement operation to stop the flood of illegal aliens, human smuggling, and drug trafficking coming across the Southwest border.

It was in his capacity as the surgeon assigned to care for the thousands of military personnel taking part in Operation Lone Star that Pete began to ruffle feathers. He recognized from decades of treating diseases among military personnel in foreign countries that early treatment of the COVID virus was key.

He had also consulted with Texas-based cardiologist Peter McCullough, a leading expert on COVID treatment, regarding the best methods for addressing the COVID virus. One of the most effective treatments, he said, was a simple nasal swab with Betadine and saline. Pete also wanted to use hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin to treat COVID—two drugs with extraordinarily good, longstanding safety profiles. Both had been used to treat viral infections and malaria for decades and were medications Pete had prescribed to service members under his care for many years.

However, as Pete related to the Epoch Times, “When I said the word ’hydroxychloroquine,’ I was told never to say that again. Don’t bring it up.” When he asked why he could not prescribe hydroxychloroquine to soldiers with COVID, other members of the Texas COVID Task Force told him that it was because Donald Trump had suggested using it to treat the illness.

That was strike one against Dr. Pete Chambers: daring to practice basic medicine to treat a new coronavirus.

Pete’s next mortal sin was bringing attention to the shocking increases he was seeing in various maladies among the troops in his care—the fittest population in the country—following injection with the COVID “vaccines.”

They were illnesses that were truly bizarre for such a healthy population cohort, like neurological and cardiac disorders. He saw, for example, that in 2021, there was a 1,100 percent increase in demyelination injuries and neurological disorders. Dr. Chambers also began seeing bizarre afflictions among the troops under his care, such as a 27-year-old soldier suffering from pericarditis—an inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart.

“The amount of blood pumping out of his heart [was] equivalent to a 78-year-old with congestive heart failure,” Chambers said. “He was treated, and then we had to let him go off the mission.”

Pete was also seeing troops suffering from stroke-like symptoms and demyelination—a disorder in which the protective covering of the nerves, called myelin, is damaged. These were conditions rarely seen in such physically fit young people such as those serving in the US military.

These injuries compelled Dr. Chambers to provide the 3,000 National Guard troops under his care with informed consent before they took the COVID “vaccine,” advising them that they didn’t need a COVID “vaccine” because they were young and healthy. They could be treated with safe drugs like hydroxychloroquine.

Well, the Army could not have that. When they discovered Pete had been providing such informed consent, the Army took action against him. They tried to fire him, but he had whistleblower protections. Nonetheless, the pressure forced him to retire before he completed 40 years of service, resulting in the loss of some benefits.

Subsequent revelations regarding the COVID “vaccines” have vindicated Pete Chambers. (See, for example, my previous column here.)

Pete Chambers has demonstrated integrity, forthrightness, and steadfastness in his long service to our country. That is not to mention bravery. These are qualities sorely needed in government, including in the Texas governor’s mansion. You can learn more about Pete’s extraordinary life at https://docpetechambers.org.
