ROGER SIMON ON THE BRATS WITHOUT A REAL CAUSE ON WALL STREET

“Tahrir Envy” Meets “Tea Party Envy” on Wall Street Posted By Roger L Simon

URL to article: http://pajamasmedia.com/rogerlsimon/2011/10/05/tahrir-envy-meets-tea-party-envy-on-wall-street/

It’s hard to know how to react to the apparently escalating protests on Wall Street.

On the one hand you can just roll your eyes. The numbers aren’t very big, especially for New York, and every generation has its “useful idiots.” I’ve been one myself. The demonstrations appear to be just another float passing by in the grand media parade.

On the other, however, we live in incendiary times with our country, indeed the world, hanging by fingers over an economic precipice. Almost anything can happen. In fact, strike the “almost.”

That’s why the situation is particularly volatile. And it’s not reassuring that the protestors, most of them anyway, seem to have no specific ideology. Some people, notably Glenn Beck, are calling this vagueness deliberate, a ruse after which the protest will show its true (red) colors. And indeed none other than Frances Fox Piven of Cloward-Piven fame has registered her excitement [1] over the demonstrations.

Hizb ut Tahrir On A Roll Through Asia http://daphneanson.blogspot.com/  Banned in much of the Middle East, the radical Islamic group Hizb ut Tahrir (“Party of Liberation”, seen in the above video rallying in Gaza – I can’t understand what they’re saying but I get the gist!), which in pursuit of its aims of creating a […]

CAL THOMAS: CHRISTIE’S RIGHT DECISION

http://townhall.com/columnists/calthomas/2011/10/06/christies_right_decision/print New Jersey Republican Governor Chris Christie probably had more suitors than Portia in Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice” and yet in the end he made the right decision not to run for president. It was the correct decision on several levels. First, the media, which loves to build people up in order to tear […]

ANN COULTER: WHAT A MOB LOOKS LIKE

http://townhall.com/columnists/anncoulter/2011/10/05/this_is_what_a_mob_looks_like/print

I am not the first to note the vast differences between the Wall Street protesters and the tea partiers. To name three: The tea partiers have jobs, showers and a point.

No one knows what the Wall Street protesters want — as is typical of mobs. They say they want Obama re-elected, but claim to hate “Wall Street.” You know, the same Wall Street that gave its largest campaign donation in history to Obama, who, in turn, bailed out the banks and made Goldman Sachs the fourth branch of government.

This would be like opposing fattening, processed foods, but cheering Michael Moore — which the protesters also did this week.

But to me, the most striking difference between the tea partiers and the “Occupy Wall Street” crowd — besides the smell of patchouli — is how liberal protesters must claim their every gathering is historic and heroic.

YOM KIPPUR EXPLAINED: YORAM ETTINGER

Yom Kippur Guide for the Perplexed
Ambassador (ret.) Yoram Ettinger,\Based on Jewish Sages

http://www.theettingerreport.com

1. Yom Kippur’s central theme is the plea for forgiveness from fellow
human-beings, highlighting the most essential attributes of constructive
leadership, healthy relationships and family and national cohesion: humility
(admitting fallibility), faith, soul-searching, thoughtfulness, being
considerate, compassion, accepting responsibility, minimizing personal
hostility, magnanimity. In order to penetrate the heart of fellow
human-beings, the plea for forgiveness must emanate from the heart. Yom
Kippur is not driven by punishment, but by behavioral-enhancement.

ROBERT BRYCE: FIVE TRUTHS ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203388804576612620828387968.html
Five Truths About Climate Change
During the decade that Al Gore dominated the environmental debate, global carbon-dioxide emissions rose by 28.5%.

Over the past two months, environmental activists have held protests at the White House and elsewhere hoping to convince the Obama administration to deny a permit for the proposed Keystone XL oil pipeline from Canada to the Gulf Coast. Some of those same activists have launched a series of demonstrations called “Moving Planet” to move “the planet away from fossil fuels towards a safer climate future.” And next month, leaders from dozens of countries will meet at the 17th United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Durban, South Africa.
