Glenn thoroughly dismantles erroneous Washington Post article attacking him, Lieberman

Monday, Jun 20, 2011 at 12:43 PM EDT

As Glenn predicted, anyone standing with Israel has started to come under attack. From Senator Lieberman to pop star Shakira, everyone standing with Israel is starting to feel the pressure to back down. Amazingly, The Washington Post found an article filled with vile lies fit to print this past Friday, claiming that Glenn is an anti-semitic ‘creature’ who is only standing with Israel now because he’s leaving FOX and trying to repair his career. Sorry, but Glenn has long been a defender of Israel and laid out his record and the facts on radio this morning.

“The charge that I’m an anti-semite seems to come from the idea that I put one guest on the air, out of the thousands I’ve had in my career, that supposedly believes that the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion” are accurate. If you don’t know what the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion” are, it’s a fake document from a century ago, that is supposed to be the minutes of a secret meeting of Jews plotting to rule the world. It was created by Russians a long time ago in attempt to vilify Jews,” Glenn said.

“If you’ve heard me talk about Israel at all, you might wonder why I would bring someone on to talk about the reality of a fake document that blames Jews for all of the worlds problems. Well—of course—I didn’t,” he explained.

Glenn then laid out that the guest in question did not talk about Israel or the document and the guest did not claim the document was real – quite the opposite actually.

Regardless of what one guest thinks about a topic Glenn has never spoken to him about—it might be better to focus on what he has actually said about the topic. For example, last year when Glenn was on the air on this very show calling the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion” quote “despicable”.

Or that Glenn specifically criticized Syria for specifically recreating the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion” – back in 2005—calling it anti-Semitic and hammering them for claiming Jews use hot pokers to gouge Palestinians eyes.

What about the claim that Glenn has only done a “couple of shows about the evils of anti-Semitism.”

“I know of no show that has spent more time of national airtime telling the truth about the growing wave of anti-semitism over the past decade than this show in all its forms. That’s important to point out, not to brag—but to show the incredible liars that the Washington Post allows to write on their pages,” Glenn said.

Glenn then laid out his record on pro-Israel statements and shows.

First, in March of this year on FOX News where he made clear his stance on Israel:

In 2009, Glenn made it clear that if other countries were having neighboring nations launching rockets at them that they would be well within their rights to retaliate. “If Canada was launching rockets at us, would anybody have this conversation that, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait, hang on, slow down. What do you mean those airplanes are flying over the Canadian border and bombing Toronto? You’re damn right we’d be bombing Toronto. Stop launching the rockets at us,” Glenn said at the time.

How about June 2008 when Glenn was still on CNN?

2007, when Glenn discussed Israel’s right to survive? (WARNING: Glenn was funny at this point!)

And in 2006, Glenn interviewed the current Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about Israel and Iran:

Glenn continued, “Let’s go back to my first best seller, The Real America, which was back in 2003 where I talked about picturing how difficult it is to feel secure in Israel. Quote: Imagine you’re living in a state smaller than the size of New Jersey and everyone in Pennsylvania, New York, and Delaware wants you dead just because you’re from the Garden State. I talked about Israel and how dangerous it was to be a Jew, in 2003.”

“Or we could go back to this clip from the radio show in 2002 after a caller named Abdul called up trashing Israel as he usually did. I decided to play this time Wayne Newton over his call and made fun of him. He called back the next day to complain about it (call is at the end of the clip at the top of this page).”

“Ask yourself this question, especially if you write for the Washington Post: How could we possibly continue to smear and prop up lies?” Glenn said.

“We have filled hundreds of hours of broadcast and yet the Washington Post said we’ve done a couple of shows on the evils of anti‑Semitism.”

“I suppose this is as good a time as any to announce that I am honored to receive the defender of Israel award from the Zionist organization of America. I am honored to be honored with this award as Joe Biden has been. As Tom DeLay has been, as prime minister Netanyahu, Eric Cantor, Dori Gold, Jeanine Kirkpatrick, Jim Woolsey, Mort Zuckerman, Ambassador John Bolton. I am honored to be this year’s recipient of the defender of Israel,” Glenn said.

“This summer is going to be the summer that I’m going to ask you to do a few things and challenge yourself and find out who you are and what you really truly believe in. I’m going to make the same challenge to you,” Glenn said referring to the Restoring Courage event this summer.

“I am asking you to join me and stand as a human being. Recognize the times that we live in. Recognize that history always repeats itself. Recognize the great and powerful evil that has co‑opted almost every institution we have in this country. Recognize that our own churches are going to be split. But recognize united we stand, divided we fall. If we do not stand shoulder to shoulder in love and peace -and without fear – he world will be plunged in darkness again, but have no fear. Have courage. Have honor. Be who you were born to be.”
