Hi Gang:
I am providing you with a news release that was issued by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) earlier today, Friday, May 20th.
It details how ICE enforcement officers assigned to Detention and Removal located and apprehended a citizen of Mexico, Jose Ramos Negrete-Arriola, 36 years of age, who is wanted in Mexico for the cold-blooded murder of a citizen of Mexico at a Mothers Day celebration in Mexico way back on May 10, 2002.
Certainly I laud the efforts of the officers who conducted the investigation that led to the arrest and removal of an illegal alien whose presence in our nation represented a threat to the safety of the residents of the community in which he was living in Northern California.  I can, however, assure you that those officers have much more work to do!  There is certainly no shortage of criminal aliens living in every state of this nation.
Furthermore, the arrest of this alleged murderer also raises a disturbing question, “How did he manage to evade Mexican law enforcement authorities for nearly a decade?”  Of course the corollary of this question is how he was finally located in the United States?
Did he acquire lawful status in our country?  If he did, was it under his actual name or a false name?  If he used a false name(s)  I wonder how many false aliases he may have used and if any of these false aliases were supported by Mexican Matricula Consular cards.
Given the extreme violence of the crime for which he is wanted in Mexico, you have to wonder if he was involved in any crimes, especially crimes of violence while he lived in the United States.
Here is the point you need to give thought to- if our borders were truly secured against unlawful entry, and if our immigration system had integrity, this criminal would not have been able to enter the United States.  While the administration attempts to declare a victory in securing our nation’s borders so that they can then attempt to ram Comprehensive Immigration Reform down our throats, the truth is that our borders are anything but secure!  The measure of the security of our nation’s borders cannot be determined by arrest statistics- let us never forget that while figures don’t lie liars can figure!
The way you can tell if the borders is secure is by answering the fundamental question, “Are aliens managing to run our borders and making their way to the interior of the United States?”  Another question to be asked, “Are narcotics and other contraband getting into our country?”
Clearly illegal aliens continue to flood into our country as do narcotics and other contraband.  Therefore it is clear that our borders are not secure!  This is why hundreds of American cities are now infested by members of the extremely violent Mexican drug cartels and why these and other transnational criminals from all over the world are able to easily enter the United States and make their way to any city they choose with those cities that are self-described as “Sanctuary Cities” offering the proverbial “Welcome Mat” to such criminals, thereby endangering the lives of those who live in those cities.
The point I have often made is that a significant percentage of aliens who violate our immigration laws are aliens who are engaged in criminal activities and may well be fugitives from justice in their home countries or some other country where they committed serious crimes.  These criminal aliens generally seek to live among immigrants from the same country that they come from in order to better hide in plain sight and to also enjoy the food, music and companionship of people they are most comfortable with.  This places the immigrant communities of our country at greatest risk from transnational criminals.  This is true for all immigrant communities whether the immigrants are from Latin America, Asia, Russia or the Caribbean.
Once again I am therefore compelled to ask how it is “anti-immigrant” to want to make certain that our borders protect all who live in our country from those foreign nationals (aliens) whose presence in our country would be harmful or pose a threat to our safety and well-being?
When aliens evade the inspections process that is supposed to prevent the entry of aliens whose presence in our country would be harmful or pose a threat, you have to presume that such aliens evade the inspections process because they know that they fall into a series of categories of aliens who are, by law, to be prevented from entering our country.  Title 8, United States Code, Section 212 enumerates the statutory grounds that deem aliens to be inadmissible into the United States.  The immigration laws are absolutely blind as to race, religion and ethnicity.  The only distinction the Immigration and Nationality Act makes is between citizens and non-citizens (aliens).
When the open borders advocates get riled up about the use of the term “illegal” I would remind you that the term illegal means contrary to law.  The law in this case is the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) that is intended to protect our nation and our citizens.  When Nancy Pelosi, the former Speaker of the House decried the enforcement of our nation’s  immigration laws as being “Anti-American” she was conveniently forgetting the purpose of those laws!
I ask that you take the time and review the various categories of aliens who are deemed excludible under the INA.
Here is the link to that critically important section of the Immigration and Nationality Act:
http://www.uscis.gov/ilink/docView/SLB/HTML/SLB/0-0-0-1/0-0-0-29/0-0-0-1956.html

Included in the list of grounds under which aliens should be excluded from the United States are aliens who suffer from dangerous communicable diseases, aliens who suffer mental illness and are prone to violence aliens who are convicted felons, aliens who traffic in narcotics or human beings, aliens who are war criminals or who have committed human rights violations, are engaged in terrorism or in espionage.  The list is far longer and you can read all of these reasons that under the law, aliens are supposed to be prevented from entering our country or may be removed (deported) from our country.  This section of law is designed to protect our nation and all those who are present in the United States.  This section of law is no mere technicality but is of extremely great importance.

Additionally, when aliens run our borders, they leave no record of their entry- creating further national security threats for our nation.  Aliens who evade the inspections process must be presumed to have done so because they know that they would be denied entry because they fall under one or more of the categories of aliens who are statutorily barred from entering the United States.  This is why we must never provide the arguably tens of millions of illegal aliens with official identity documents, lawful status and ultimately- a “pathway to United States citizenship!”

Our nation provides lawful immigrant status to more than 1.1 million aliens each and every year!  Each and everyone of those aliens are immediately placed on a pathway to United States citizenship on the day that they are granted their lawful immigrant status.  This huge number of immigrants is far greater that the number of lawful immigrants admitted by any other country on the face of this planet!
As I have noted on ever so many other occasions, the difference between an immigrant and an illegal alien is comparable to the difference between a houseguest and a burglar!

The securing of our nation’s borders and the effective enforcement and administration of our nation’s immigration laws are, arguably, among the most important of all missions that are supposed to be carried out by our federal government.

Nothing less than the security of our nation and safety of our citizens hang in the balance!

A country without secure borders can no more stand than can a house without walls!

I

f

our country is to survive and if our children and their children are to get their share of the “American Dream” the citizens of this nation must take their citizenship seriously!

We the People must be the best citizens we can be, citizens who are worthy of the gallantry demonstrated by our valiant men and women in the military, law enforcement and firefighters, who routinely go in harm’s way in defense of this nation and our citizens.

My goal in writing this and other commentaries is to point out our nations many failings before more victims pay the ultimate price for the incompetence and ineptitude of our government.

The first step in problem-solving is to first identify the problems and vulnerabilities and then devise strategies to overcome them.

If you find yourself to be in agreement with this commentary, I ask that you forward it to as many of your friends and family members as possible and encourage them to do the same.  We need to create a “Bucket Brigade of Truth!”

The practice of good citizenship does not end in the voting booth, it only begins there.

The large scale apathy demonstrated by citizens of this nation has emboldened elected representatives to all but ignore the needs of the average American citizen in a quest for massive campaign funds and the promises of votes to be ostensibly delivered by special interest groups. There is much that we cannot do but there is one thing that We the People absolutely must do- we must stop sitting on the sidelines!

The collective failure of We the People to get involved in make our concerns known to our politicians have nearly made the concerns of the great majority of the citizens of this nation all but irrelevant to the politicians.

I believe our nation’s is greatly benefited by the rich diversity of our people which is why I could never imagine living anywhere except New York City, arguably the most diverse city in our nation if not, in fact, the world.  However, my idea of diversity most certainly does not include members of MS-13, the Mexican drug cartels or members of other transnational gangs or members of al-Qaeda!

If this situation concerns you or especially if it angers you, I ask you to call your Senators and Congressional “Representative. This is not only your right- it is your obligation!

All I ask is that you make it clear to our politicians that we are not as dumb as they hope we are!

We live in a perilous world and in a perilous era. The survival of our nation and the lives of our citizens hang in the balance.

This is neither a Conservative issue, nor is it a Liberal issue- simply stated, this is most certainly an AMERICAN issue!

You are either part of the solution or you are a part of the problem!

Democracy is not a spectator sport!

Lead, follow or get out of the way!

Mexican murder suspect captured in northern California returned to Mexico

SAN DIEGO – A Mexican national captured recently in Stanislaus County who is wanted for murder in his native country was turned over to Mexican law enforcement officials at the border south of San Diego Friday morning by officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Jose Ramos Negrete-Arriola, 36, is charged with homicide in a warrant issued in the Mexican state of Guanajuato. The warrant alleges Negrete was responsible for the May 10, 2002, murder of Jesus Ojeda-Ojeda in Rancho Cerro Prieto del Carmen. According to officials in the Mexican Attorney General’s Office, the victim was gunned down at a Mother’s Day street dance after he confronted Negrete about threatening his elderly father at the same event earlier in the evening.

Negrete was taken into custody on administrative immigration violations March 4 at his Hughson, Calif., residence. The arrest was made by ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers assigned to the agency’s Fresno-based Fugitive Operations Team and an officer from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department. Negrete’s capture came after ICE ERO received a lead from the Mexican Attorney General’s Office indicating the murder suspect might be residing in the small northern California town. Subsequently, Negrete appeared before an immigration judge, who determined the fugitive had no legal basis to remain in the U.S., paving the way for his repatriation to Mexico.

“Today’s repatriation is another example of the outstanding cooperation between the U.S. and Mexico to protect law-abiding citizens on both sides of the border,” said Joseph Romel, assistant field office director for ICE ERO in Fresno. “ICE is using its unique immigration enforcement authorities to safeguard our communities from criminal aliens and others who pose a public safety threat, including suspects fleeing justice in their own countries. As these violent criminal fugitives are discovering, they can’t outrun the law.”

“By working together, we’ve succeeded in taking a potentially dangerous individual off of the streets,” said Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson. “Cases like this clearly show the benefits of local and federal collaboration and why it’s important for that teamwork to continue.”

Negrete is the fourth high-profile Mexican fugitive captured in northern California to be handed over to Mexican authorities in recent weeks. Last month, ICE officers repatriated two murder suspects who were arrested in King City, Calif., and a former Mexican federal police officer wanted for cocaine trafficking who was captured in the East Bay community of Pittsburg, Calif.

From April 2009 through Aug. 2010, ERO officers nationwide coordinated the removal of more than 150 foreign nationals being sought in their native countries for serious crimes, including kidnapping, rape and murder.
