“Jerusalem For Us. Palestine Is Arabic Land”

That’s the translation of the sign (pictured here) chalked on the ground in Tahrir Square on Friday the 13th, during a rally of thousands of Egyptians commemorating the so-called Nakba and wishing death to the Zionist Entity.

These other photos, also taken by Associated Press photographer Amr Nabil, convey the mood of the crowd.

“Jerusalem for us. Palestine is an Arabic land.”

“[Israel?] Go to Hell” is scrawled beside a Magen David:

An improvised Israeli flag is torched:
A symbolic Israeli is hanged in effigy:
And this photograph, by Nasser Nuri for Reuters, shows the Palestinian flags being waved by the Cairo crowds:

Friday’s Tahrir Square demonstrators can be considered the vanguard of the Facebook-generated “Third Intifada” called for 15 May.

The Jerusalem Post reports that in Alexandria, the country’s second city,  ‘thousands marched to the Israeli consulate after dawn prayers at one of the city’s main mosques, chanting: “With our souls, with our blood, we redeem you Palestine”‘.

The paper quotes a representaive participant thus:

“We are here today to show our support for the Palestinian cause.  The victory of our revolution will not be complete without the liberation of Palestine.”

Following Friday prayers, thousands also marched, chanting pro-Palestinian slogans, in El-Arish in Sinai.

In the Jordanian capital, Amman,  about 500 marchers, some clad in keffiyehs, demanded the Palestinian Arabs’  “right of return” as did protesters at the Allenby Bridge border crossing.

Further protests are planned for Sunday.
