JAN MEL POLLER: A RESPONSE TO ISRAEL’S “PROGRESSIVE” CRITICS

I am truly fed up with the hypocrisy, duplicity, and dishonesty and Jew- hatred shown by Western Civilization towards fellow democracy Israel.

Everything I am saying below is true and you know it to be true.  If you think something is not true, use Google or Bing and verify it yourself.  I am going into far more detail than I want because Progressives do not accept information that conflicts with their ideology.  It is necessary to respond to your message.

In 1939, German armies were inside Germany.  In 1939, they attacked and the Europeans went to war, to be joined by the United States, Australia, New Zealand, other commonwealth forces and the Soviet Union.  When the Allies pushed Germany out of the invaded lands, they did not stop at the border of Germany.  They occupied 100% of Germany.  Foreign forces stayed on German soil until when?  How about American forces are still there?  Russian forces left when the Soviet Union fell in 1989.  The official occupation by the Allies ended in 1955 – 10 years after the war, after Germany had become a democracy.

After Japan surrendered, U.S. forces occupied Japan. Officially, the Occupation of Japan ended in 1952.  American soldiers are still in Japan.

Combatants on both sides killed civilians.  Combatants in Iraq, Pakistan, Iraq and Afghanistan also kill civilians.

So, let me turn your attention to the evil attitudes displayed by Western Civilization towards events in the Middle East.

In 1964, Israel did not occupy the Sinai, Gaza, Judea, Samaria, East Jerusalem or the Golan.  Yasser Arafat, hero of the Progressives, formed the PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) to do what?  Oh, nothing major, just destroy Israel.  After all, that was the only part of Mandate Palestine not controlled by the Arabs.  I don’t recall the world complaining about that.

In May of 1967, the Arabs still controlled the Sinai, Judea and Samaria, East Jerusalem and the Golan.  There was no Israeli Occupation.  There were continuing terrorist attacks from those areas as had occurred since the 1920’s.

With a little help from our friends, the Soviet Union, Egypt and Syria decided to make war and were joined by numerous Arab countries. Nasser created the first act of war when he blockaded the Straits of Tiran.  The U.S. had obligated itself to keeping the Straits open but reneged when it was actually called upon to do so. Israel approached King Hussein through third parties to stay out of the war which would have ensured Jordanian occupation of the West bank and East Jerusalem but he turned them down and attacked Israel.

Thirty years later, King Hussein confessed to his people that he made a big mistake entering the war.  The Sunday Times: Hussein admits costly mistake over six-day war (King Hussein did state that Israel started the battle.  He did not say that Israel started the war.)  What do our Western Democracies say?  Well, they claim that Israel went to war to gain territory.

The world was convinced that the Arabs were going to destroy Israel with their huge armies and a de facto arms embargo on Israel.  France was so sure that the Arabs would win that it broke all arms agreements with Israel.  It stopped supplying Mirage aircraft and parts to Israel.  (Later, France took the 50 Mirage V’s – bought and paid for by Israel -and sold them to Libya.  France had the chutzpah to ask Israel to build the canopy assemblies for the airplanes for Libya!  Israel said “NO”.)

According to the book “Foxbats over Dimona”, Israel got word that Russia was going to take part in the battle against Israel.  Israel delayed the start of active combat for two days while they assembled two nuclear bombs and let Russia know that they had them.  Russian commandos were captured off Haifa.  Israel won the war on the first day of battle with the destruction of the Arab air forces.  The destruction of the airfields prevented Russia from flying in Combat aircraft.

And just like the Allies in WW-II, Israel gained control of enemy territory.

Israel asked for peace talks with the warring Arab countries and was met with the “3 No’s of Khartoum”: No Negotiation, No Recognition, No Peace.  Israel’s response was, in effect, if that is your attitude, then the land is ours.

UN Resolution 242 (November 22, 1967) called for the return of territory in return for a “just and lasting peace”.  During the debate, the term “All of the territory” was rejected, allowing for border modifications.  (They weren’t borders.  The Arabs specifically refused to regard the 1949 Armistice lines as borders because that would mean recognizing Israel as a legitimate country.

Rather than make peace, Egypt started the War of Attrition along the Suez Canal.  That ended when Israeli pilots shot down Russian pilots flying Russian owned MiGs painted to look like Egyptian owned MiGs, without any losses.  That was followed by the 1973 Yom Kippur war.  The Arabs lost that even though they had the advantage of surprise and numbers.  There was an effective arms embargo on Israel but not the Arabs.  A story has been told that Israel went to President Nixon and said that if they weren’t resupplied they would be forced to go nuclear.  This was the cause of the nuclear alarm in the US at that time.

A few years later, Sadat made peace overtures to Israel.  Sadat offered to end the state of war with Israel if Israel would give back the Sinai.  Israel gave up the Sinai, its airfields and military bases, its settlements, the Ras Tanura oil field and the buffer zone of the Sinai for something less than true peace.  Doesn’t that give lie to the claim that Israel went to war to gain territory?  Not to the Progressive Westerners and their foreign affairs officers.

In an effort to placate the United States and to promote peace, Israel agreed to the Oslo agreement.  They even let Arafat and his PLO into the Occupied Territories.  The next day, Arafat’s terrorists murder a Jewish couple in Jerusalem.  That was followed by the peaceful (excuse the sarcasm) Intifadas with the murders, the suicide bombers, and the anti-peace moves.  Again, Progressive Westerners blamed Israel.

Again, to placate the United States, Israel left Gaza without getting any concession in return.  The next day, the assault in Israeli civilians started with about 12,000 rocket and mortar attacks over the next several years.  Again, the Western governments did nothing to stop the attacks.  They continued funding the Palestinians.  They said nothing at the UN.  However, no matter what Israel did to stop them they were condemned.  Every counter attack, every deterrent action, every action to stop an attack in progress was condemned as “excessive”, “brutal”, “unwarranted” and “unhelpful”.  Dead Jews were completely acceptable.  Dead terrorists were not.

The World, including our Dear Beloved President Obama, wants the UN to declare a Palestinian State without making a single concession nor making peace with Israel.

Did any of this change the minds of “Progressive” westerners?  Of course not!  The Palestinians had become the world’s favorite victims.  You might notice, for example, that the world isn’t calling for a separate Basque or Kurdish state nor do they raise a whimper at a Kurd being murdered by Turkey, or all the other atrocities being committed around the world.

The world is asking Israel to make concession after concession getting absolutely nothing in return.  It is all based on the lie that Israel stole the land, that Israel is expansionist, wants to rule the Palestinians, that Israel doesn’t want peace.

Bill: I am afraid that you buy into these lies.  You have accepted a lethal narrative – lethal not only to Israel but to Western Civilization.

Your comparison of Israel to Nazi Germany’s supposedly asking for peace is odious and wrong.  Why do you keep ignoring the fact that that Israel has made peace when it has been offered?

We are on to the “Progressive” nonsense.  There is no point in making a single concession without getting one in return.  We aren’t the ones whose charters call for the destruction of another state or people.  You never do mention the problems caused by their charters.

You told me that you have written papers for an unnamed group in England.  I suggest that you send them this.  I don’t expect them to drop their hatred for us but they need to know they are buying into a lethal narrative.  Do remember that there are places in England where Sharia is practiced and where non-Muslims can’t go.  Think how they have nothing to say about Honor Killings and the general mistreatment of women and gays.
