Authorities say they’re searching for three students from Afghanistan who have been reported missing by the suburban Rochester college where they’re enrolled in a four-week cultural exchange program.
Authorities tell Rochester media outlets that they believe the students left on their own and weren’t victims of any criminal actions.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says it’s looking for two 21-year-old Afghan women, Nazi Karim and Mursal Bunyadt, and a male student whose name hasn’t been released.
Deputies say Nazareth College in Pittsford reported Karim missing Feb. 6. Bunyadt and the male student were reported missing on Saturday.
The three students are among a group of 20 from Afghanistan who arrived at the private Catholic college last month as part of a program sponsored by the U.S. State Department to promote better understanding of America.
